Ole Miss to vote on new Rebel Mascot.... SIAP

The University of Mississippi dumped the mascot — a caricature of a white plantation owner — in a 2003 effort to distance the school from Old South stereotypes. It’s been without a mascot ever since. A vote Tuesday could change that.
Students will have only two choices in the online referendum: yes, replace the colonel with something else — perhaps a riverboat gambler or a colonial soldier — or no, remain the only school in the Southeastern Conference without a mascot.

During the US vs Brit colonial war, Mississippi had no participation.

Mississippi's gulf counties become (part of) Us territory West Florida in 1810.
No colonial soldiering was done by any Mississippi units.

No, those aren't the choices, they just want you to think those are the choices. Choice A is to vote "Yes" to where Students have the right to choose which mascot will represent them. Choice B is to vote "No" and basically sign away your right to vote on the mascot, and they will get a new one anyway, probably by going to some NYC marketing firm and get another redneck wife-beater like Rowdy Rebel. Either way, we are probably getting a new mascot.
As to people who want Admiral Ackbar as our new mascot have put it:
"ITS A TRAP!"
