I mean, they have a really nice stadium and they've expanded it....so whats the deal? what is the average attendance for Auburn home baseball games? ....and why hasn't Auburn improved over the years? Don't give me this crap that it doesn't matter......When a University builds a nice baseball stadium, it's obviously because they respect the sport...what's the problem there?

Now....I can accept the response of not caring about baseball from the Gumps because of the shithole of a baseball stadium they have...hell, even Vandy's baseball stadium is way nicer than The Joe or whatever the frick it's called....

i've wondered the same thing. everyone in the SEC seems to enjoy watching and being involved with their baseball program except for Auburn

New coach and last year we had massive injuries in our bullpen.

We've got the offense and the pitching should be much improved this year.

Aubie Bases peaked around the end of the Baird era, had Tim Hudson, Josh Hancock, and John Schuerholtz son, built new park ahead of the rest of the pack, etc..a CWS trip or two.

Earlier era had Frank Thomas, etc..

Nah, we have to spend all of our money to buy football players. We would much rather have Dyer and Newton playing on Saturdays in the fall than to have a competitive baseball team in the spring.

Seeing as how we need a running back,YES

Needed ML too,but he stayed home

Basketball and Baseball have gone downhill since Jay Jacobs became the AD and I think this is 20% of the problem

Auburn has some of the worst fans in the nation when it comes to supporting or teams with attendance. We don't sell out any sport on a regular basis and it really pisses me off. There is no excuse why we can't get 10000 people to a baseball or basketball game. It's fricking pathetic.

I disagree with the Jay Jacobs thing. He made a very solid hire in pawlowski. Sanctions have killed us in basketball because we can only recruit non AAU players and all the best in the nation now play AAU. Basketball at auburn is not going anywhere anytime soon.

As for baseball, again, it's fricking pathetic we can't get talent to come in. We are in the perfect spot for baseball talent. East Cobb Baseball is less than 2 hours away and they produce more talent than any other youth organization in the nation. Georgia, Alabama, and Florida are loaded with talent every year. I think pawlowski will bring us back to compete in the west on a regular basis.

Auburn reached its best success under Hal Baird, including reaching the CWS in 94 and 97. After the 99 season, Baird announced he was retiring after the 2000 and Steve Renfroe, who had been on the staff since 81 was named his successor.

Renfroe had success, reaching the NCAA's 3 times, but was let go after the 2004 season because we didn't live up to expectations. Renfroe was 30 games over .500 in his career at AU as coach, but 60-60 in SEC play.

Letting Renfroe go upset a lot of AU baseball supporters, and Auburn tried to make up for that by hiring Tom Slater, who was viewed as an up and coming coach, but he only made the NCAA's once, in 2005, which was also a year we didn't make the SEC tourney.

So, last season, Auburn hired John Pawloski, who is known as a Pitching Coach. Auburn achieved one of its best offensive seasons last year, setting a single season record for team home runs, but pitching was not good due to lack of depth and injuries.

This year, depending on the pitching and Paws recruiting will be a good idea for how Auburn does in the future. We'll probably lose Hunter Morris, 1st Team All-American at 1st Base, to the bigs after this year, but we still have some good players on the team.

I only wonder what some of these teams would've been like if we hadn't lost some star recruits to the draft, namely Jake Peavey in the 90's and Colby Rasmus in this past decade.
