When Mack took over UT program...revenue was around 20M...fast forward 10 years later and it is almost 90M. Coach Macovich(sp?) before him ran a complete clusterfrick of the program and alienated boosters and the highschool coaches and alumni in the state.

I think Brown's greatest achievement in building the program to the elite status of today is that has galvonized all of these crucial areas into one well oiled machine. It's easy to say "well, he has all the resources...he should win"...but he made the program what it is today.

In the early 90's, there were many influential Texas boosters who supported the hiring of John Mackovic because they wanted UT to be more like a "Stanford" of the South.

I sh*t you not. People, I cannot emphasize enough what Mack Brown has done for UT football, the University, and I'll go so far as the state of football in Texas.
