Why does the SEC keep Vandy?

IMO, they bring nothing athletically save the occasional competitive basketball team and good gpa's. However, every year they still get their 1/12th of the SEC bowl pie. Doesn't really seem fair...they don't contribute shite...almost like they're on SEC welfare.
I think the SEC would be better served getting rid of vandy and getting someone who would be more competitive (GT, Clemson, FL State (they might come now that Bobby B is gone), even Louisville).
Thoughts?

This questions pops up every so often. I think it is the most ignorant question that gets asked. So I would like to know why you are asking it? Do you not understand the benefits the rest of SEC teams get by having a Vandy on their schedule??? Would it be better to have say a Texas??? Also Vandy's academics bring a lot to the SEC. Do you not understand this?

Vanderbilt has the largest endowment in the SEC, and it's not even close. They are one of the top academic institutions in the country.

Because our uber-intelligent fanbase makes the rest of you look better?
Hey, no matter how good every team in the SEC gets, somebody has to be the bottom-feeder.
"That's alright, that's okay, you're gonna work for us someday!" (My favorite Vandy cheer!)

Beaue Vanderbilt never quit and ran like Ga Tech and Tulane. They deserve our loyalty for hanging in there. If Vandy played in the ACC, or for that matter the Big Ten they would have more success but they stick it out and play strong year after year.
And what part of No fricking Way don't people understand when it comes to Clemson, Florida State, Miami and Texas A&M? All of those schools could have joined the SEC but they took the easy road. We will never share our success with them. Get over it.

Vandy's academics
Also the fact they are a charter member. And tbh they are decent at basketball and baseball. It's not all about football you know.

How does LSU or Bama or any other SEC school benefit by Vandy being strong academically? I mean, that's great for Vandy but I don't think when folks think of the SEC they are thinking IVY league academics. Do the other SEC schools get a portion of Vandy's academic dollars? I'm guessing no. Why should Vandy get a piece of the athletic pie when they don't contribute shite?
GT is a strong academic school and is much better athletically than Vandy. Why not court them?

Well, it leads to cedibility of the league, and Vanderbilt is a charter member of the SEC. Only they can decide to leave, and that's not going to happen. They were also the winningest SEC football program until the 1960s, when Alabama passed them. Regardless, GT had their chance, and they left. If a team were to be added, I would want it to be them, but I don't see the format changing.

I agree NOLATide.
Vandy is a charter member of the SEC and is entitled to all the benefits enjoyed by the other members. Vandy would have to want to leave (like Georgia Tech and Tulane did) on their own accord. I hope they never do that. We may all hate each other at times, but we are a band of brothers.

Taking Vandy away from the SEC is ludicrios. Just because they are not a powerhouse dosen't mean they are not apart of what makes the ACC great.

Without Vandy grads, who will read to you?

Vandy has been better in two of the three major sports than most of the SEC, including Bama. Football is big but not the only sport.

that's right. and the SEC endows them millions of dollars every year. maybe Vandy should split some that endowment like we split sec revenues? i, for one, would rather see another school in the conference. it is, however, much fun to travel to Nashville sometimes for games; Nashville is a very fun place to go to.

Do you remember a few years ago when the Big 10 commish basically called the SEC a stupid conference? You could expect much more of that, for starters

Ever been to a football game at Vandy? It's great! It's always like a high school chamionship game, in that stadium. I love it.
