So maybe Ingram will NOT win the Heisman......

based on what has happened with all the other awards.
Colt McCoy swept all the "best player" awards and Toby Gerhardt won the Doak Walker Award for Best Running Back.
Ingram did not win even one.
Of course, it could be that the voters were trying to "spread the wealth" and they wanted to make sure the other Heisman contenders got a national award if they are going to give Ingram the Heisman.......or it could mean that they just don't think Ingram is deserving of any award.....
Adds some interest to the announcement Saturday, at least......

A lot of times they give those awards to other people when there's a clear heisman front runner. It doesn't mean much
If anything, winning the Maxwell is usually the Heisman kiss of death

He's a sophmore...they're all political awards. (Unless you have an UNBELIEVABLE statistical season like Tebow did when he won his.) And to be honest, based on stats (don't kill me Bama fans) if he wasn't the best player on the best team, do you think he would have still made it? (Let's say Hrdesty had those numbers...)

Totally different voters for all those awards.
They all have their own committees.
The Heisman has all the former winners as voters too who tend to vote differently than those other national awards.
I think Ingram lost it in Auburn game, won it back in SEC title game since McCoy and Tebow didn't look too good. Suh made up a ton of ground but too little too late. Gerhart could've won it but ran out of games and what he did against Notre Dame doesn't carry much weight.
I think Ingram gets it but I thought McCoy should have won it last year over Bradford.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I know what you mean. I was glad when Eli won the Maxwell, because I knew that he would never win the Heisman since he did not play for an "elite" team.
I kind of wish Gerhardt would win, though, just to smash the tendency to only give the Heisman to someone who plays for a team ranked in the Top Ten.....and I personally think he and Suh were actually the best individual players in college football this year, anyway.....

Guess I am the only one who thinks that Ingram wasn't even the best RB for Bama this year...Richardson is going to be deadly for the next 2 years!

Can we just quit farting in our pants over this subject?

You're one of the few.
Trent Richardson is far more talented than Mark Ingram.
The difference is that Ingram knows how to run holes and Richardson just plows straight forward. When richardson figures out how to be a RB, he'll be one of the all time SEC greats.

Racist
The last 10 Heisman winners:
9 White Guys
1 Black Guy
Therefore, I think Gerhart will win.

Is that really true? If so, I wasn't aware of it and am shocked by it.....

Well, to be fair, it IS the most important position on the field, by far, so if the criterion is supposed to be "the most valuable player" as opposed to just "the best player regardless of position", it would stand to reason that most winners would be quarterbacks, would it not?

Yeah, I was going to add that maybe this string of white quarterbacks winning was a "make-up call" for the screwing of Peyton......

It seems that it would really break the hearts of alot of non Bama fans if Mark did win. He's a 19 year old kid up for the most prestigious individual award in college football. Put your Bama hate aside and quit dogging the kid. Every single one of us would love to be in the position he's in now; finalist for the Heisman.

How many times over the past decade has the same player won both the Maxwell and the Heisman? Like once?

It's not personal. He simply doesn't have the stats to win it, looking at history at least. There are other RBs who have those stats who are not getting the attention Ingram is.
He's a very good RB with above average stats. Those types don't win the heisman.
