Is Julio Jones Overrated?

He seems to drop a lot of passes he shouldn't. He did it again in the SECCG. I think he's another one of those 5 star recruits that gets tons of hype. But if you take his name off his stats he's just another receiver.

You cover him then.
IMHO he is going to be a great one. He has had some bad games this year for sure.

He still has the ability to murder you if you aren't ready (ex: LSU game..70 yard screen).

as much as i hate gumps....no. he would be top 10 in this years nfl draft.

Was he not healthy this year? I didn't see the explosiveness that I saw his first year.

The drops do suck but he is still our leadng reciever and he gets a ton of attention so i'm fine with him....

He is an extremely talented, physically gifted SOPHOMORE!!
sheeeeesh
I'll take him on my team and would bet there are 11 other coaches in the SEC that would take him today.
He will get better and be a true STUD. I know what you are getting at and agree to an extent, but DAMN. He's just a true SOPH.

I personally think Maize is more dangerous. I'm not saying JJ is not a good receiver. I'm just saying he has yet to live up to the hype.

I think he is a great reciever. He gets a lot of attention by the other teams defense so that limits him some but frick up just once and watch what he will do to you.
For example, Peterson comes out of the game for just one play and Julio goes the length of the field.
He gets it done when he has to and he proved in the Auburn game this year that when it is crunch time he is the go to guy.
Julio has some great days ahead at Alabama.

he has been dropping way too many balls lately, and lately I mean since Sept. What he does is take the best cover guy on the opposing team and frees up the slot receivers. He makes great blocks downfield with his size and strength(see Ingram run in SECCG.) I think he'll get his hand back next year and have a good season. Once he does that he will have all the tools to be a good(or great) NFL receiver

He opens the field for Maze, Hanks and Peak(sp?)
He attracts the coverage and allows McElroy to have other talented receivers in one on one coverage to exploit. He is not overrated and is a beast after the catch.
