that Bama has only won 7 national titles.

Bama fans and Verne all think they have 12

So ESPN is always right. This has been documented for future use.

...meaning the AP polls.
With the exception of 1941 (and I have no idea why we even claim that year), every Bama NC since '36 has been supported by the UPI or AP poll.

I never said that ESPN was right, slow down punchy, I just said that bama fans and Verne believe you all have 12 NC's thats all

All college national titles are suspect until the NCAA implements a playoff system
This year we currently have 5 undefeated teams yet only 2 (Texas & Bama) have a shot at the national title
Utah was undefeated last year yet UF wins the national title with 1 loss
Do I even need to go into 2007?
In 2004 AU is undefeated and gets no shot or a share of a title
I could go on and on and on.......

this was the biggest screw over by the BCS so far IMO.

Read the leading post of the thread. "Even ESPN knows...." I suggest you go back and retake your stair stacking course.

Pretty self explanatory right there, don't ya think?
If it said "Alabama is attempting to claim their first National Championship since the inception of the BCS in 1998" would it mean we NEVER won a NC before?
Reading comprehension....learn it.

Wow, I guess that means that what ever a thread title says, it must be true.

Maybe it's me, but I don't really see where the title says that ESPN is always right?

The NCAA credits Alabama with 17 and yet we only claim 12. Whether it be 17, 12, or 7 national titles it doesn't matter. Bottom line: we still have more national and conference titles than any other team in the SEC.

And that is something to be proud of.

Ivan Maisel wrote that article. Isn't he an Alabama native or alum?
Winning a championship these days is a lot harder, in my opinion. Much more parity, much more $ in several programs. Gotta hand it to Bama, though in the 60s and 70s - they took advantage.
