Same here. It hit me hard because my close friend is dealing with a sick child who is not going to live much longer.

kid from Niceville (15 y.o.) died as a result of a high football collision.
Tebow wears a bracelet remembering the kid.
Much more emotional than I'm making it sound, obviously... very touching... my wife's bawling.

he was a standout student. 4.0 gpa. went on mission trips all the time like Tebow. just seemed like a good kid overall.

Kudos to Tebow. Gosh I wished he'd played for Bama. How can you not like the guy??

Tebow is a great person. The hate for him should be directed at the media. He has done nothing to warrant any ill will except play the game we all love with passion and great emotion. His actions off the field have been ridiculed by people that have probably never lifted a finger to help someone else in need let alone spend a week out of the country doing missionary work.
Rant over.
This story is tragic and I can't imagine losing my son. My prayers are with that family.

Here's the story on Taylor Haugen. Sad thing for someone so young and promising to lose his life like that.

Exactly. I don't have a shred of dislike for Tebow, but I simply cannot stand the media lovefest.

The media focus on him because people love him, and people love him because he's the antithesis to guys like Pacman Jones...
I liked Tebow when he was in high school, after reading several newspaper articles about him in the course of Bama's recruiting. I'm not one to assume someone's fake until they give me reason to, so I've never "hated" Tebow as some on here confess to. Even when he single-handedly took over the SECCG last year, all I felt was respect. I never complained about any aspect of that game.
