I had to put a common sense thread up to rebutt the other stupid thread.

Somebody please give me one logical reason why he'd want to leave??? Please don't let your emotions get in the way.

uhhhhhh... ND has more money than god and alabama alumni could never match any amount of money ND would logically offer a coach to leave.

ND in the big picture is a more storied program and will be built back by someone. Egomanics must have that.

Unless Notre Dame is prepared to do something stupid like offer Saban $12Mil a year (which they're not), Bama will match any offer they put on the table. You should know this buddy...Are you sure you're a Bama fan?

More money and a challenge. THATS what Saban coaches for. You guys still havnt learned who Saban is yet.

He could care less who he coaches for. Its about him being able to take any program and turn them into winners. He doesnt care which team it is.

chance to rebuild the most storied program (he gets off on the challenge where numerous others have failed recently)

more money.

likely grew up watching and pulling for ND as a Catholic kid.

NATIONAL recruiting base.

he would be the East coast (ok, midwest) version of pete carrol.

more money.

he's not in alabama (fine for you, maybe even fine for me, but not fine for a guy from up north. they still think the south is full of dumb rednecks --- many are).

proximity to a large metropolis - chicago - for the wife's shopping habits. especially now that she has more money.

his boss is the Pope, not hal moore or some mere mortal.

every game is on Nat. TV.

will not have to play an SECCG game to get into the NC. even a mediocre season will have ND in NC give media bias.

that's just off the top of my head. need more?

ND won't pay more than Bama will. They may have more money, but they aren't gonna pony up more than Bama will also be willing to pay.

Just to play devil's advocate here...ND is a program in dire straights (much like Bama a few years ago.) When you are that desperate, suddenly options that would be off the table at just about all other programs are entertained. Bama did it when they offered Saban $4million after they had their crosshairs set on him. Bama was the first to offer such a huge compensation package to a first year coach.

Given the state of ND's football program and the depth of their coffers, I would not be surprised to see (if indeed Saban is their number 1 guy) ND open the negotiations for compensation at $5-6 million for him. Who knows how high they may be willing to go if a bidding war opens up between Bama and ND. They're paying Weis the same as Saban for losing seasons...do you honestly think they won't throw significantly more green at Saban for the prospect of what he could do at ND?

That being said, I don't think Saban leaves Bama before he gets some hardware. Unless his 'dream job' were to open up, where ever that may be, he is at Bama.

You are really out of touch if you dont think ND can and will pay more money than ANY school can offer. Do some research kid.

They can pay him $10 mil easy. They own their own nationwide TV contract with NBC. There are WAY more ND fans and alum than any school has, with LOTS more money.

ND would be a Holy Grail type job for Saban. Literally.

The ONLY reason he wouldnt take it, is he doesnt want to look bad by moving so soon again. Its always about Saban. You will get it eventually.

I somewhat know coaches daughter and while she has not commented on this N.D. B.S. she LOVES our school (shes a freshman and yells her arse off at every home game) and has said how happy her family is here. It would be foolish to think that he could never leave for a bigger paycheck because I think most of us would, but they do like it here and have no plans on leaving.

I don't think he can recruit as well as he can here. He also has COMPLETE control over the football program which would NOT happen at N.D.

He's not going anywhere...I think he realizes he made a mistake by leaving LSU and won't do it again now that he's at Bama. Sucks for us but that's probably the truth.
