might be on to something. Article by Matt Hayes.

"Since Miles won't say anything, I will. This is beyond bad officiating. It's so undeniably awful, I'm beginning to believe conspiracy nuts who claim the SEC is protecting its heavyweight teams (Florida and Alabama) since, you know, every poor call in the last month has involved, uh, Florida and Alabama."

I am simply astounded by this. The leap of faith it requires to believe in an SEC front office orchastrated officiating conspiracy to land Bama and UF in the SECCG is staggering!

Hypothetically, lets say something like this was afoot. There is NO WAY it would get out of it's infancy before someone talked and let it out.

Bad calls are bad calls. There is no way this is orchestrated by a University or the SEC front office. Those that honestly believe this probably also believe the government has a secret dossier on each of us.

Grow up!

Who says the University and/or the SEC would be behind it?

Just wait till Bama gets screwed by the refs in their bowl game. If it's Pac 10 refs a screwjob could be likely and don't cry here if it happens.

There was a second ref behind the hedges in Athens. And I know I saw a second penalty flag thrown to the front and right of Peterson as he angled toward the sidelines. Something is rotten in Denmark.

It is long past time that the NCAA mandated conferences to take the NFL route and have full time officials. Right now the officials are brother in laws, cousins, or whatever of school or league bigwigs. And folks, no matter how much protestation of fairness issues from their collective mouths, the bias shows. It is not just confined to the SEC, although ours seem to be the most blatantly incompetent. Every conference has had enough of these clowns masquerading as officials.
The NFL pays its officials something over $100,000/year. They are expected to be in some kind of reasonable shape, attend schools in the off season, including one that does nothing but go over EVERY game each crew calls and to work on fixing their problems.
No crew should have any kind of connection to the conference games they call. Any kind of ridiculous calls like happened yesterday and at the other games would result in fines and/or suspensions of the officials. Each coach would be allowed to send tapes into a central office and file protests just like the NFL does.
Maybe this would help to eliminate the heinous calls like we saw in what was otherwise a great game.

How did LSU benefit? If I remember correctly BOTH LSU and UGA were penalized for the same thing. LSU capitalized, UGA didn't.

And for the record, 15 yards =/= a change in possession that late in the 4th qrtr of a game.

RTGR, I think ya just figured it out. You are correct, full time officials ARE the answer.

The time has come for it.
