In Louisiana.

LINK

ETA: Completely justified imo since it was a Smelley t-shirt.

That teacher has a dirty mind. Maybe she should be suspended.

What's more offensive? "Smelley rocks" or "Go Cocks"?

We in Louisiana like to overreact. The dress code is just disgusting, and its not helping our grades either. I went to high school at Live Oak High in Watson, LA and they actually suspended a kid who had spiked his hair for having a "weapon at school". Granted the newspapers ran with the story and they were forced to lift the suspension and not care about hair for the rest of the year, but thats how they roll. Who cares if you can read, its how well you can wear a dress code.

As soon as the media figures out how they can spin it to not sound obvious.

The shirt was meant to be exactly what it is and I can see where it would be offensive to many - especially at a school. She knew what she was doing when she wore it to school. Not the first time a play on words using the USC mascot.

Maybe, but i can imagine what the other kids did with that phrase, was probably quite a distraction that day, but im not sure about suspension, kind of extreme

It's not near as bad as the t-shirt Chris Smelley's family used to wear when they went to the games:

MY COCK IS SMELLEY

It should be whatever the school's handbook says. If it says suspension, then yea. If it says send her home and allow her to change then yea. You can't tell me she did not know the shirt was going to go over like turd a in a punch bowl. If she didn't know the handbook, then sorry.

She probably didn't. She had just moved from where she would be be in the majority (maybe not with THAT particular shirt of course) to a place where she would be in the vast minority. And I'm sure she just decided to read the handbook after moving. Cause that's what I would do.

That's what I was thinking. Most I know of have gone to uniform shirts.

Does that say "Design by Cock Tees" under the Go Cocks? The shirt is entirely based on playing with double meaning of words, but the only part that could/should be seen as "offensive" is anyway would be the Cock Tees part. But even then only if you're a stuck up bitch of a teacher given that it didn't sound like this kid had any history with making trouble.

Just suggest that they don't wear it again or anything like it. Going to the principal and saying it offended you?
