a no-huddle triple option spread. You defend it the same way you defend the option - with discipline. Monte didn't have a good game plan for it. Auburn doesn't have a lot of great offensive athletes - they used a gimmick offense against a poor team that was poorly coached. Gimmicks have inherrant weaknesses - when Auburn faces a good defense that stays home they'll give up more turnovers than a traditional offense. Triple options don't work against fast disciplined defenses.

I don't think it's a gimmick offense at all. Just lots of misdirection.

TN was 'well coached' against UF.. but 'poorly coached' against Auburn?

Misdirections, WR Screens, and throws to the flat...

Still not impressed with them as a whole. A team that is good on defense and offense(OM,LSU,Bama) will be harder to beat...

Haha wow Monte Kiffin is a poor coach now??? I've heard it all... I'm going to go ahead and call bullshite on that, and say AU's offense isn't a gimmick and is for real..

True. The way Auburn runs it they run and throw against the grain a lot. A fast defense will stop the rushers for big negative losses consistantly and force turnovers behind the line of scrimmage - scoring lots of defensive points.

That's because the Tampa 2 plays the LBs deep, guarding against big plays by keeping defenders in front of the ball. The only things that the Tampa 2 allows are run plays, shorts throws, and mid range throws down the middle. The Auburn offense just took what ol' Monte gave them.

they looked pretty good to me. Running up the middle and over people didn't look like a gimmick to me. Tate will run over your arse.

UT has one of the better D's in the SEC. Auburn's O was solid today. Everyone on their schedule should take notice.

You are as clueless as they come. This is not a gimmick offense everyone who knows shat about football that has looked at it tells you it is a power run play action offense. We use a lot of misdirection similar to UF but we have a wider variety of plays than UF does in our arsenal.

We just put 26 points against at worst the 3rd best defense in the league and they had 4 timeouts in the second half plus 2 official timeouts for "clock reset" that gave the defense time to rest inside the redzone. Without those well coached well called timeouts AU would have thumped UT very hard. Monte is among the best defensive coaches in the nation and he has stated Gus is the best OC he's ever seen.

AU is doing good. Their offense is consistent and makes plays. Their numbers speak for themselves.

So - are you saying the system is what made Auburns offense better or does Auburn have better players this year?
