Question for bama fans

If your son was a decent high school football player and was offered a football scholarship to Auburn, would you support him if he decided to accept it? The scenario would be that Auburn would be in their down cycle and he was not offered anything by bama. Would you want him to get a chance to earn a free college education, or do you persuade him to walk on at alabama?

I would support him fully, but still cheer for bama at the same time

Seriously? I would make him go to Auburn if he got a scholarship.

Depends.
Do we have the money to pay for his education without a scholly?
If we do, then where is his heart?
If he 100% wants to play for AU, then he has my blessings, but I'm still a fan of my son first and my team is Bama. I could cheer for his team but the Iron Bowl would be a tough one.
But, is is heart in Tuscaloosa and would he just be settling by going to AU? If so, and we have the money, then I would want him to follow his heart and walk on.
I would just want him to make the best decision for him.

That was a great answer.

If I were a Bammer:
I would support his decision to his face and call him a queer behind his back to all of his friends.

I am staunch Catholic but hate Notre Name with a passion. A buddy of mine asked me the same question. I told him not only would I support fully my son's decision to play there, I would feel much better knowing he was getting a much better education than he would at LSU. In that case, the superior education would significantly outweigh any negative thoughts I would have about him playing at a hated school.

Don't most of you guys hate Tennessee more than Auburn? I thought there was a thread about that one time.

Not no -- but hell no.
I'd let my son enlist in the Taliban before I would send him to play football for the Barn.

It would be up to him but you can bet your arse that I would be proud of my son if he earned a scholarship to play football at any D-1 School. If my son got a scholly to Auburn I would go to the store and buy me some orange and blue shite and learn to yell War Eagle.
It would hurt a little though

Mine got a ROTC scholarship and then PICKED AU. I've been assured it happens in even the best of families.
