Please tell me, in which games did Mitch Mustain actually do something which made you think "he definitely won that one for us."
FACT: In five of his eight starts, he passed for fewer than 100 yards.
Jarrett frickin' Lee would have been 8-0 in those games at Arkansas. Book it.
Vanderbilt, definitely. We don't win that game without him. He also played very well in the Auburn game. Didn't necessarily "win it" for us, but performed well. He threw a game-winning TD in the Alabama game, despite his struggles.
Bottom line, he was true frosh QB. He had flashes, but he struggled. Just like any other true frosh QB. Hell, look at Stafford's numbers....his frosh numbers sucked, and he was the #1 overall pick.
The end result is that Mustain could have been a very good QB. He's obviously not going to win the job at USC, but hell, the back-ups at USC are better than probably 75% of starters out there.
Bottom line -- not one person in this thread has pointed to an instance where Mustain or his mom showed their arse. It's interesting to me that he was such a whiny bitch, but no one can provide one shred of evidence to back that assertion up.

I never so much said he was a whiny bitch. I do think that if he and his mother really did think he deserved all of that playing time as a true freshman then perhaps they were full of themselves.
I just think the whole "zomg he wuz 8-0 as a StArTeR" argument isn't quite valid when considering the fact that he had very little of an impact in an overwhelming majority of the games he started.

This is my whole point. People think he demanded playing time, when in fact he was hoping (and publicly stated) that he wanted to redshirt.

The Democrat-Gazette.
He was quoted that he wanted to redshirt. There were articles with Nutt saying that Mitch wanted it and they were going to try to do just that, etc.

There is nothing that has been said or that will ever be said that hos not been said 1,000 times about this situation. It's pointless.
In the end, Mitch could not hold up HIS end of the bargain relative to showing just how good he is and can be. He "allowed" a kid with one week of USC experience to pass him on the DC back in the spring. One week. The writing was on the wall then...contrary to whatever writers wanted us to believe then, and now.
He's done. Nutt is gone. Beck/Hogwatch is quiet.
Time for this shite to end so we can FINALLY enjoy what is going on in front of our eyes. LA and Oxford should not be on our radar screen.
IMO...

Weird point of view.
Mitch has to start at a school with more QB talent on team than Arkansas has had in 50 years to prove that he got screwed?

What does "I could have" mean? Either you were on an athletic scholarship or you weren't.

He obviously doesn't want to start that bad otherwise he would transfer somewhere else right? Barkely is very talented he doesn't have teh biggest arm, or the fastest legs but at the line of scrimmage he's about as good as it gets. Very sharp kid

rkley named USC Starter, so where does that leave Mustain?
A fitting end to yet another over-hyped HS football star.
Of course, some of the 'blame' lies squarely on the various scouts, CFB media, etc. that fueled the promise of Mustain.

It leaves Mustain feeling foolish for going to USC instead of jsut walking in and starting at about 100 other programs.

The OP said nothing about athletic scholarships specifically. I got a free ride and then some from Ole Miss for academics.

Weird POV?
Mitch knew where he was going. He made an informed decision thinking he could not only play but start (over Sanchez). That's not Sao's POV, that is HIS POV. He crapped the bed. Simple as that.
Truthfully, he has nothing to prove to me at all. I don't care if he ever plays a down out there simply because my Hog Livelihood and Pride don't hinge on it. So many more wanted to see him win a Heisman at USC simply to wave it in the face of Dooshtooth Nutt.
So if he didn't get it done while knowing what he faced, that's on him. It's not on me nor my words on a message board. Kudos to him for trying. Kudos to me for not letting it affect the joy for me of what is going on in Fayetteville without him.
