I don't want to bash him either. I just do not think we are gonna match up favorably with a strong running game in the next couple years.
My offense for consistant championship level football toughest to defense is basically what Petrino does. Mixture of the power-i with play action pass, 2 wide out sets up to 5 wideout sets in multiple formations. Some spread 2 back, some spread 1, some spread empty backfield. Some shotgun, roll-out, bootleg, drop back etc. I've read that Petrino can run the same play out of 13 different formations. But, I think there is a real fine line between being too complex for college kids compared to what you'd install in the pros b/c the pros do not have classes and homework to keep up with and there's only so much these kids can learn.
I doubt we'll ever see Petrino at his absolute finest b/c the offense is too complex. But, make no mistake he is as good as it gets. There were a ton of busted plays last year where multiple people missed assignments.

God, you are stupid. Matt Leinhart publicly stated after his rookie year in the NFL that SoCal's playbook was more complicated than the one he had to learn for the Cards. Yet PC seems to be pretty damned successful over there. Are you suggesting that they just have smarter kids over at SC than Arky can hope to get? I guess we have only untalented retards on campus...
PS - I have heard the same thing about both Alabama and Florida's offenses , that they have NFL caliber playbooks.

now you're sounding less like an idiot while still not accomplishing the end goal. The offense isn't a system that can be properly run in the first year to those whom aren't familiar with it at all. This year will be a better gauge on the complexity of the offense. I'll be interested to see what a line that has been taught to do more than zone block can do.
As for seeing it at it's best? if Louisville can run it why not an SEC team?
