I know there are many people who think the guy is a grade A douchebag, but if I were a Bama fan, I'd be totally satisfied with his actions to reach the 85 scholarship limit.

It's pretty clear that he has been able to recruit better talent than Mike Shula did in his final years.

If you're a Bama fan, why be pissed about:

1. Picking up more talent.
2. Fostering a competitive environment where if you don't perform, you're out.

I understand the hatred of LSU fans toward Saban, but sheesh, the dude is making smart moves.

I don't think you'll find any Bama fans that are not satisfied with his actions.

Agree to an extent. These are the types of moves that can come back to bite you later in recruiting though.

then it better start biting saban pretty quick. the attrition will fall off significantly after fall camp this year. he will have more of his guys and the biggest senior class since he's been there.

Spslyto,

Perhaps you're correct. But, he's probably going to land more talent than he loses because of this tactic.

Please don't get it twisted. I hate Alabama more than any other rival, but I just wanted to show not all LSU fans wear P&G glasses.

Yet when A Smith wasn't on the field Bammer didn't look so hot. Didn't Shula recruit him?

I wish I had the superior moral compass that you do.

You're going to compare one player to an entire overall class?

yeah cause he would never run off his own players. his loyalty is never to be questioned, right Alonzo Lawrence?

The amusing part about it, are the stories that people are making up i.e. "The high school coaches in Alabama and around the SEC are starting to get pissed at Sabear, because he's cutting all of these players." & "These kids and their parents will figure Sabear out and stop going to UA." It's comical, really.

Come in, work hard, perform, and you'll be fine. Come in, be lazy, and your arse in gone.

This will be less common when the rest of our players form the Shula era extinct...

he is burning bridges along the way is the only concern. I would love to cut the fat too but we are skinny this year.

he wasn't run off. nice try though. and i didn't say the attrition would stop. i said it would decrease to the normal number that happens at just about every big time program.

In a way, what's he's doing is creating a totally competitive environment kind of like USC. In practice you better bring your A game or you've got no shot at playing. Worse, you could lose your scholarship.

A Smith was going to Bama no matter who was the coach. Like yall say every player in LA is... he was a life long fan.
