LOIs signed since 2002. I'll adjust the numbers for the scholarships we lost...in effect, I'll add 7 each year to Bama's total.

2002
AU: 33
Bama: 27 (20 actual)

2003
AU: 26
Bama: 24 (17 actual)

2004
AU: 27
Bama: 34 (27 actual)

2005
AU: 21
Bama: 32

2006]
AU: 25
Bama: 23

So...Pre-Saban (or Tubby vs. Shula) AU signed a total of 132 recruits. Bama signed a total of 140 if you include the 21 scholarships we lost. Bama +8. Actual Bama signings - 119 (AU +13).

On the other thread that blasted Saban and Bama oversigns, I tallied that AU has signed 87, Saban and Bama have signed 84. AU +3. Apparently, Saban's doing more with less than Shula did. And the Barner argument that Saban is an oversigning demon goes bye-bye.

Those poor, poor Barner boys. They've been taken advantage of for so long. Giving everything they've got for good ol' AU...the blood, sweat...all of that other shite. Only to be kicked to the curb at the last minute by ruthless, over-signing Barner coaches just because they just weren't good enough to we-ahh the colors o' mighty AU. Those lying Barner bastards!!!

does getting less than 28 signal over-recruiting?

Actually, it's not a fail. The NCAA did to Bama what it intended to do with the sanctions. Congrats to the Barners for beating us when we were paying back our transgressions.

Apparently you do.

Just pointing out the irony of T-n-M whining about Saban's oversigns and the stone cold heartlessness with which Saban is getting down to 85.

AU never forced out players in the wholesale fashion Saban is doing now.

If you were a bit smarter (ok a lot smarter), you would know AU has always signed a lot of non-qualifiers and sent them the JUCO route. Many never play a down at AU. AU's two highest rated five star prospects last year never played a down at AU (Jermain Johnson and Raven Gray). Same thing the year before - 5 star Enrique Davis. AU has always made a habit of sign and place for a substantial number of players under Tubbs.

So your comparision is a fail and pretty damn worthless. I would say nice try, but it really wasn't worth even that.

This is just a blatant lie. I think everybody is pretty much boring of your little act. Your not smarter than everybody else. You aren't all knowing. Your a message board poster that backs a great university and a top football program.

Basically, don't be so damn mad all the time.

Now about the lie...

When Tubby first got to Auburn he ran several guys off from the Bowden regime. Saban should've done this two years ago in my opinion. Much like the "I am not going to the coach at Alabama", y'all again are being hypocritical. Sort of like when Tubby was leaving Oxford in a pine box.

Also Saban already gave you some answers during media days.....

quote:

Q. Been varying reports recently of players who either have left or are considering maybe leaving the program. Are you close to the 85 number, do you feel comfortable where that is right now? Would you classify such attrition are normal year to year stuff?

COACH SABAN: The last part of your question was?

Q. Would you classify such attrition as normal year to year operations?

COACH SABAN: We have a demanding program. I mean, when I say ‘demanding program,’ I’m not talking about football. We have a personal development aspect to our program that there’s principles and values in the organization relative to developing a successful philosophy, creating the right kind of habits, thoughts, habits and priorities that are going to help you make good decisions, whether it’s the Pacific Institute coming in, whether it’s a peer intervention program that address behavioral issues, drugs, alcohol, gambling, spiritual development, how to treat the opposite sex, macho man stuff, running your mouth, getting in fights.

Most of the stuff you read about players having issues with come in some of those categories from that personal standpoint. We spend a lot of time trying to develop personalities on our team, characteristics that will help them be more successful, and they’ll be more successful in life for having been involved in the program.

It is demanding. We have some players in our program who have not met those demands. We have the same kind of demands academically. We have one of the highest graduation rates in the SEC and in the country, and that’s going north for next year because we’ll have even more players graduate next year in our program.

But we have a demanding academic system in terms of player requirements, in terms of what they need to do. There are players that don’t meet that. And we have the same thing in football. But none of these players are leaving because of the kind of football players they are from our standpoint. There may be some player who leaves because they’re disappointed and don’t think or don’t have the confidence that they can play.

So if we have attrition for any of those areas, and I tell the player, I don’t want you to leave, you’re a good person in the program, you’re a good student. You may be a backup player, but you have to be satisfied with your role on the team ’cause we don’t want a player that’s disgruntled or negative in terms of our team chemistry for selfish reasons because you’re unsatisfied with your role. If you don’t think you can achieve that here, I’m supportive in helping you go someplace else.

I don’t know how these things get out. But I only address these things when we start fall camp. We still have a couple players who could or couldn’t qualify. We have quite a few players who have already enrolled in school. This is from a young player’s standpoint. We have some players who will be grayshirted and know they will be grayshirted. And we have some players who are contemplating what their future’s gonna be relative to the University of Alabama.

And we have some players who are being suspended, whether it’s for behavior or academic reasons, and they won’t continue at our school.

You've bumped your head hard I see. The 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 AU teams were far more talented than Bama is currently and likely next year as well.

Tubs ran off some of Tots players when he first got there. Saban has recruited players then told them you aren't going to cut it so leave. That is the difference. As said he "may" be doing this due to some other issues on the team but I doubt it. If it happens just this season this will blow over and nothing will happen if it continues to happen where 5-10 players are cut you will see some rule changes come down fast from either the NCAA or SEC.

Do you really believe that? I know the 2004 team was 13-0, but you actually think the 2005 and 2006 teams have more talent than Alabama currently has?

Yes. I believe the 2007 AU team could have beaten Bama last season and would have won the West.
