Which SEC team will be the biggest bust of the year?

I am going with Ole Miss. They have a good team. But the expectations of their fans seem to be way sky high. I've heard some say they will win a national title this year.
I just think they are in for a let down. I think they lose 3-4 games.

ARK. schedule is brutal..

I am not flaming, but I am thinking Bama, look at what happened when we had a new QB with a decent line last year. You never can tell but I do not think you will have the same results as you did last year. I think Ole Miss will be pretty good as much as I hate to admit it.

Yeah Ark has a brutal schedule. But I don't think their expectations are as high as Florida, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss and such.
I mean...if they can win 6 games this year then that is an improvement for them.

We have high hopes but the schedule we keep us in check....As far as who will be the biggest bust of the year.....
I pray the tent of the carinval freak show at Ole Miss falls...

several publications have the tide winning the west and preseason top 5 with a QB that has zero experience
with the scandal, loss of Andre Smith at LT and a green QB; I see no fewer than 3 losses for the Tide this season

Very true. The situation of breaking in a new QB worries me as does the new O-Line.
We could be a bust...or McElroy could do for us what Tee Martin did for UT after Peyton left. We won't know until Greg starts and we see how he plays.

I agree crush, their expectations are way to high. Oher and Periah (spelling) are huge losses. Nutt isn't going to catch anyone off guard this year. Losses last year to Vandy, SC, and Wake forest don't exactly go hand in hand with a championship caliber team.. 4 losses before the bowl game would not surprise me one bit. LSU, Bama will probably be losses with potential losses at Arkansas, UT, Vandy, SC and Auburn.

That is a good possibility.
I think one reason we are ranked as high as we are is because of our defense. We should have a great defense this year. And if they can cause turnover and put up points we may live up to our expectations.

Certainly hope that it is Ole Miss.

All bowl teams and all losses by a touchdown or less, FWIW.
It's not like we lost to Arkansas, MSU, or UT last year - which would have been more embarrassing.

Bowl elegible doesn't really mean very much any more.

Yeah but they were better than the 3 teams (UT, MSU, and Ark) I mentioned.
We did win a grand total of 0 games the year before, so those losses weren't surprising to us.

I don't think Vandy was better than UT last year. We did pound them in Nashville. They may have won more games, but we still ran it down their throat with relative ease. I'm still convinced if UT ran a power I offense last year we win 7-8 regular season games.

The defense will be great, but they would have to be 2001 Baltimore Ravens good IMO. Bama is a running team with a very inexperienced OL. They also have an inexperienced QB so making the offense more dynamic doesn't look good at this point. The offense might prove this wrong, but I don't see how the defense alone leads to so much hype in the preseason. They are the team I see with this biggest bust potential based on hype. Ole Miss looks kind of out of place since they really don't have any recent history to make this a top 5 team. Definitely in a conference full of power programs.

We never lost to a team that wasn't ranked at some point in the year.
We had one starter on our D-line not injured for Vandy and Wake Forest, FWIW.
We played all backups. We also had 6 turnovers against vandy.
You have to remember that we won 6 straight games to end the season, and did so in convincing fashion.
Michael Oher was overrated (he's better than his replacement)
and Peria Jerry is replaced by Jerrell Powe.
The Mike Wallace loss will most likely be more significant than either one of those.

I'm not sure they were better either, but they played better overall last year. Auburn, UT and Arkansas were all more talented than VU, but didn't prove it on the field for whatever reason.

Zing!
Like i have been saying, we routinely subbed(at least once per D series)7-9 DL in just about every game. The only thing that Powe lacks right now is Jerry's leadership. And that will come with experience.
