I think a team having Hillis, Jones, McFadden, and Monk on offense should have brought home some serious team hardware.

And an All-American center.

But you know, those are just "individuals"...

Oh yes, they also had a Rimington Award winning Center but I did not include him in the 7 year discussion because he was drafted his Senior year (last year).

But you get the idea......

You give ANY OTHER TEAM those individuals and that team goes over .500
not true you put those players on Vandy or Miss ST and you'll have the same results. And my individual remark was taken out of context. I didnt mean they weren't playing as a team. You have to field them with 18-20 good-great players to win championships. example LSU never fielded stars or even hiesmen canidates in their championship years just great teams.

Funny not a single gump posted in this thread. Until last year they were below .500 in the SEC in this decade. Truly pathetic for the world beating gumps

Don't most teams go .500 over 7 seasons (and fail to make bowls in 2 of them) with future Pro-Bowlers, SEC record leaders, All-Americans at numerous different positions, a 2 time Doak Walker winner, an Outland and Lombardi award winner, a Rimington Award winner, and a 2 time Heisman Runner-Up?

Sounds logical.

Woo,compare your draft choices with the 6 schools ahead of you. Much better than the Hogs!

You don't go .500 with Matt Jones, Felix Jones, Darren McFadden etc...

Those are once every few decades type of players.

You don't go .500 with Tim Tebow, Bo Jackson, and Herschel Walker no matter how many other less talented players are drafted from other schools.

26 Drafted in Rounds 1-7
(6 1st Rounders, 5 2nd rounders)

Let's compare them to the other schools (of course if you're comparing records to # of draft picks you should do it on a lag with draft year or else it's not "apples to apples":

2000-07

uf: 45 drafted (7 1st Rd, 7 2nd Rd)
uga: 46 drafted (8 1st rd, 8 2nd rd)
lsu: 36 drafted (7 1st rd, 6 2nd rd)
auburn: 28 drafted (6 1st rd, 6 2nd rd)
tennessee: 50 drafted (8 1st rd, 10 2nd rd)
alabama: 28 drafted (2 1st rd, 5 2nd rd)

That's fine and dandy but 3 of those schools are on the other side of the conference, which to me further points out that .500 is inexcusable

and

The numbers and impact on the game put up by a Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, and/or Matt Jones far far far far outweigh the contributions of 4 7th round Nose Guards.

It's who they are and what they accomplished that I'm pointing to.

Ole Miss has had 6 first round picks since 2001. Super Bowl MVP, 3 pro Bowlers + potentially 2 more, awards for best QB, OL, K(too lazy and hungover to remember what they're called).....ect...you see where i'm going....

and we went sub .500 as well....

In realizing that i am in fact downing my own team, I am ok with that as long as it disapproves your point...

and 3 of those schools are in our side of the conference......which by my educated guess is HALF of the division......so if there are 3 teams better than you in a 6 team division.....it's perfectly logical to have a .500 record.

It sucks yes, but it is logical.

Call it a hunch but the TWO (2) more NFL Draft picks by Bama and Auburn does not force Arkansas into .500 football and cross out the SEC and NCAA record setting contributions of Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, and Matt Jones.

I'm not calling Arkansas an NFL factory.

But when two backs put up more APY than any tandem in the history of the game....

When a running back falls just shy of becoming the leading SEC rusher......

When a QB rushes for more yards than any QB in the history of the conference......

You don't go .500 in SEC play over 7 years and not even make a bowl in two of them.
