IF the OL gels & we get some above average play out of the rb's this could be a great season. I think the defense this year could be special.

I think we may be forgetting how limited this team was last year. O line was terrible and we had no running game, which is mostly tied to the offensive line. We have changed O line coaches and we have changed the line around.
I think if we can run for 4 yards a carry against P4 teams we will be very good. For perspective, Bama didnt average 4 yards a carry against a single Power 4 team last year besides Auburn and that would have been 3.5 ypc if not for a 26 yard scramble by Ty in the game. Bama averaged 2.8 yards per carry in the conference. 2.57 against winning teams.
A mediocre run game will do wonders for the offense.

I absolutely agree. If Russell turns out to be what people say he is, then we don't need to be able to maul people with the ground game, we just need it to be good enough that we can use it to keep defenses off-balance. I'm cautiously optimistic.
