Very interesting case. He seeks another year. Lots of moving parts.

If you want details a thread is posted on OU board to catch up with court proceedings so far. They expect judge to rule today. On a 15 min break.

Judge Balkman says he’s going to review his notes for 15 minutes and then a decision will be made.

Hold onto your butts.

Oh, and to NCAA

Heinecke is spending the break chatting the NCAA’s lawyer, Taylor Askew. He wished Heinecke the best either way the decision goes.

Judge said “15 minutes”, which makes me think he’ll come back w someone snarky to say about the NCAA denying eligibility for 15 mins of lacrosse

NCAA's case seemed pretty weak overall, especially when they claimed he never submitted his medical paperwork to them for review, and his lawyer pulled up 171 pages of submitted documents.

Judge Balkman says the evidence clearly showed Heinecke is a third-party beneficiary and that COVID affected his recruitment. He says the NCAA failed to consider the totality of the case.

George Stoia III
@GeorgeStoia

Heinecke is currently on the phone with coach Brent Venables…

“Let’s go coach!”

NCAAs closing argument after Venables telling them on the stand that we rotate 6 LBers.

"Well somewhere on their roster is a 7th LB who would like to be the 6th LB"

Pathetic!

I've known Thad Balkman since he was on the city council thirty years ago.

The NCAA never had a chance. Guy is a hard core OU fan.

Interestingly, he is also LDS and he has helped OU get a few LDS athletes to come to Norman. He is like a big shot in the stake or ward or whatever the call it and he is one of the guys they meet when they take the recruits over to the LDS place of worship or LDS student center on campus.
