The entire line-up of UM was portal transfers. I wonder how much they paid for that. This getting ridiculously professional.

Sure could have used a couple of their bigs...

GROK says:

The University of Michigan (U of M) men's basketball program spent at least $10 million in NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) money on its 2025-26 roster.

This figure comes primarily from reporting by On3's Pete Nakos in a March 2026 analysis of Sweet 16 teams' roster spending for the 2025-26 season. Michigan was grouped in the "$10 million club" alongside programs like Arkansas, Duke, Houston, St. John's, and Texas. For context, Kentucky (which exited earlier) was reported at around $22 million, while other Big Ten teams like Illinois, Iowa, and Purdue fell in the $8–10 million range.

I'm thinking that NIL money should come with a longer term contract that has significant penalties if broken.

And they are losing this old man. Haven't watched an entire MLB game since the strike and constantly turn down free tickets to NFL games. Other than an AU vs ga or uat would turn down free tickets to football. Not worth my drive time.

It seems even longer term contracts wont stop the transfer madness Note the latest with the Miami QB signing of Darian Mensah.

He had a contract with Duke. The boosters paid the buyout to Duke University, AND STILL had money to outbid the current nil of Duke to convince the kid to transfer.

NC,

As a kid my brother and I used to turn the TV down low and stay up to watch MNF, loved those teams. As I grew older, I didnt lose interest, the league lost me, all the free agency I couldnt keep up with the players, or their identity.

Want a kick in the head........

That is correct. The 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers are recognized as the only Super Bowl-winning team in NFL history whose roster was comprised entirely of players drafted or originally signed as rookies by that organization

Sounds like Cobb may be the only starter on offense we recruited out of high school. Sad.

Got to hand it to our boosters though. Build a 92 million facility. Buy out three coaches, pony up a ton of money for some very shatty teams......and still keep pouring money into it. Lets hope they get a little return on their investment this season.

As I recall, there was a time in the early days when star players were simply hired guns. Now we have gone back to that with the wide open NIL hiring.

For decades the with the NCAA amateur rules, the buying of players was under the table.
