LSU AD Announces a New Charity

Verge Ausberry has announced LSU athletics is now a charity.

Good for them, they have been very charitable to Alabama over the years, giving Alabama one win after another after another. The big fear though is this is going to divert money from other worthy causes, like children’s hospitals.

Ausberry will oversee the whole department, but he revealed that he’s tabbed a handful of administrators to lead the charge with raising money for certain programs.
“This is a new day and age,” Ausberry said. “Not the same days of the old athletic director sitting in the offices and just dictating what you’re doing. Now we’ve got to be out there, concentrating and focusing on how we generate revenue.”
“We’re going to be out there beating the streets,” Ausberry said. “LSU is a charity. Like (Skip Bertman) used to say, LSU as an athletic department is a charity. So that’s the way we’re looking at this.”

Good for them, they're being proactive and tasking specific people with the task of raising money for the various sports vs just begging the public to donate like Greg Byrne does.

Sidewalk enthusiastically volunteered to be a bell ringer but LSU turned him down. There actually are some people that LSU won’t hire.

It's amazing that none of these folks have realized that LSU coaches sport OLOL gear at times and there's OLOL signage all over several of the stadiums.
They'd probably combust if they knew that OLOL donated a massive amount to LSU a few years ago.
