As you would expect to see - Auburn has struggled late multiple times in recent history. The seasons?
2012-13 Tony Barbee 0-10
1993-94 Tommy Joe Eagles 1-9
2015-16 Bruce Pearl 1-9 (his 2nd season)
2020-21 Bruce Pearl 2-8 (postseason ban)
2014-14 Tony Barbee 2-8
2025-26 Stephen Pearl 2-8
Welcome back to the bottom of Auburn basketball.
It’s a good thing that we can rebound so well next year when Stephen gets “his players” …….

I still shudder when I see the name Barbee

Stating the obvious but 5 of 6 are in past 15 years and Bruce has 2 of em.

Welcome to the new SEC where there are good coaches and good players outside of UK.

I still see red and enter a fugue state when I see his stupid face.

Am I wrong or does this invalidate the premise of this thread entirely?

And this only reinforce that notion?

The program Bruce took over vs what Steven took over are not the same in any way whatsoever. The covid season with Coopers issue and postseason ban is an obvious one off outliner for a number of reasons

Roster turnover due to NIL sort of invalidates that. There’s far less continuity these days.
Case in point, Tahaad was the only real link to last year’s roster outside of walk ons like Muschalek.

And he's incredible. By far our best player.

It's a different landscape for sure but the status of the program is still a significant factor in attracting talent. We had less than zero clout as a program when Bruce took over. We've made multiple final fours, won numerous conference titles, earned a reputation as one of the best home court environments in basketball, hosted multiple college gamedays, put guys in the league etc
