Does it make sense for a solid college baseball player to just stay indefinitely now?

The good but not great guys, the ones who likely won't make the majors.
If you're at a top program, you'll make better money and not have to slog through the minors.

Didnt the Alabama player returning to college from the pros already prove that?

I don't follow basketball but thought I saw here he was ruled ineligible?

I thought he was granted an Injunction like two weeks ago?
Either way, college basketball is also filled with guys who played pro overseas in Europe but aren't quite good enough for the NBA.

Probably a similar situation then, we'll just make college sports the full time minor leagues.

Until Congress grants the NCAA anti-trust protection or the players unionize and a collective bargaining agreement can be reached, yeah pretty much. We started down that road years ago and it'll just keep ramping up each year.

If NCAA rules on eligibility don't apply anymore, a player can literally stay forever and just keep claiming they had sleep apnea or headaches for their first four years that's now magically cured.
Easy 8 years of money.

No. Baseball is different than football.
I still wonder what Bo Jackson could have done if not for playing NFL.
He was great at both, but football can beat you down much more severely.
If my son was great at both I'd have to recommend Baseball, but I like to watch Football a bit more until the playoffs.

Time for us to go bring back Kjerstad and we “forgot” to file the redshirt paperwork

Not indefinitely, but the money and quality of coaching and competition in the SEC has destroyed the three year model in college baseball.
