I think we live in a world where the only thing that really defines amateurism is "not the property of a big 3 US sports franchise."

Eligibility limitations are probably going to be gone in the next decade.

Foreign pro players will be able to come over and play in college because that is robbing a foreign pro team.

Domestic pro players will not be able to come to or back to college because that is robbing a domestic pro team.

Essentially, the courts were willing to play ball to destroy every essential element of collegiate amateurism right up to the point where it threatened billionaire franchises with the possibility of colleges poaching their depth and development league players. Money talk and bullshite walks as they say. Make a mockery out of everything in college athletics until it could negatively impact the NFL, NBA, or MLB.

The ruling today sets precedent for any local yokel to make NCAA football rules with zero knowledge and expertise. Can't wait for the first targeting suspension to be overturned on injunction. But why stop there? Academic ineligibility, recruiting violations, penalties for storming the field.

Then like with everything else, this goes down to high school players and then no rules apply to them either.

You'd be hard pressed to find a college basketball team that doesn't have a foreign pro currently on their roster.

If you aren't trawling for frogs and squatting slavs in euro pro leagues, you ain't trying in college basketball.

You cant get anymore hypocritical than playing a former pro player on your team...and complaining about another player having a former pro player on their team

I agree. It’s not about that at the levels that matter. It’s about protecting the MLB, NBA, and NFL’s assets not amateurism.
