Texas State the Only Texas School to Make Hollywood Reporter’s Top Drama School List

So, I thought that Longhorns and aggy were the most dramatic people in Texas. At Texas, we even have Oscar winning actor Matthew McConaughey as our Minister of Culture. Plus Farrah Fawcett attended Texas too. And wasn’t aggy Lyle Lovett married to Julia Roberts??
But I see here that Texas State is the only Texas school to make Hollywood Reporter’s Top Global Drama School List. I’ve lived away from Texas so long that Texas State was named Southwest Texas State back when I was at UT. So could some of y’all local Longhorns and aggies please explain why the heck our schools are so behind?
Texas State Named Top Drama School
And please don’t complain that this is not a football topic. Neither is basketball, and I’ve seen a lot of that crap posted on this board lately…

I am guessing it is because the alums were nor performing arts majors.
Could you imagine sending your kids to Yale or Northwestern to study drama??
Seems to anchor on recent actors.
Actual non Facebook link for the rankings

Many recent alumni of the school — which also includes an acting degree, under the new title of bachelor of fine arts in acting for stage and screen — can be seen onscreen and on Broadway stages, including Ashlyn Maddox, featured in Netflix’s The Four Seasons as Tina Fey and Will Forte’s daughter; Shelby Acosta, starring in Real Women Have Curves on Broadway; Bella Coppola, who starred in this season’s Smash on Broadway; and Roberta Colindrez, who appeared in the Netflix series Eric.

Hah gaaaaaaay!
At least we have some art in Texas. Florida has Tom Petty. Athens GA has a top music scene that has fostered famous bands like REM and the B52s…
What the heck kind of art or culture is there in Alabama??

Thanks aggy! It seems that our schools have some work to do! Although Texas is tops in Marxist Theory and Practice, and a&m is tops in meat judging, I don’t think we should let Texas State take the state spotlight in Broadway and Hollywood actor production…

Dude what age are you? Have a heart; even Hollywood actors and Ministers of Culture get old… Besides I’ve read that women actually prefer dad bods…

That is an excellent post.
We hear about famous actors who went to Harvard or Yale, and there are quite a few, but a great many of them either were going to school there anyway for their grades or were already super successful actors who just wanted a college experience.
I would, if my child had acting talent, much prefer they go to a hands on "we're getting you ready to be a working actor" school. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a successful Australian actor in Hollywood and that is because they take training to be a working actor seriously.
Unless you are rich a college education is an investment in yourself. Make sure you get the best education for your buck that you can.

For the actual film and stage-play production process, it is very much an old school guild like approach where you learn from established hands to develop practical experience . I have known a few families whose kids wanted to try their luck and ended up getting into the cinematography and production side of things and really had to pay their dues but now are fairly well established in the industry. None of them went to film school.

Thank you arky! This may be the first time that I have been accused on the Rant of posting Quality Content!
Later edit: OK good, I now see that you were telling Windy City that his post was excellent, not mine...
Things are back to normal...
