Just saw Dom Kelly was in the portal. He's looked pretty good as a true freshman. This is our 4th or 5th DB that has bailed on us. Why so many in the secondary?

The staff must have anticipated this, as we've brought in 4 transfer DBs, if my count is correct.

So what's up with that? Any of yall with Phd's in Footballology got an explanation?

Well Daylen went to the draft. Maddox and Harris who we brought in last year both couldn’t earn PT. Ondre Evans and Dom Kelly are both young guys who were firmly behind other relatively young guys (Ellis and Demello). And we brought in a few portal guys this time that have legit experience. The waters were muddy so they decided to go try a different pool.

It's a recurring question. Sort of like, "Why do people start portal threads, when there's already one pinned at the top of the page?"

As for teams poaching Georgia's DB's, when it comes to understanding of defensive secondary, Kirby's at the top of the list. He recruits good DB's and they get coached up. Other coaches know that too. That's okay, most of the smart ones will stick around and learn from the best in the business.

Both Maddox and J Harris were portal additions last year. Maddox got some early run but neither played much at all and wouldn’t in 26 either. Daniel Harris was passed by both E Robinson and D Jones. Ondre Evans stayed hurt and is same class with no separation as Robinson and Jones. Dom Kelly going is the worst IMO. I really thought he had a chance to be CB3 next season and play a lot.

We added Gentry Williams who is a former 5 star who has been plagued with health issues. If he can stay healthy he will be really good in his last year of eligibility at UGA. Conley is a RSo. with tons of upside. Khalil Barnes will contribute early and often at S and/or STAR. Riddle is one I’m hopeful for. I don’t know much about his game but some of his practice videos that have floated around show he is a vocal leader.

There are quite a few younger guys who redshirted and true freshman who are capable too.

Summary: we are fine.
