To be fired Friday, per completely unreliable source. If that were true, why would they wait until the close of the portal? I don’t understand the strategy there if this actually happens, but I have my doubts it’s true. Seems like we’re stuck with the same staff.

Saban is coming back to coach the defense. I just made that up too.

Preface this with me saying I'm not an insider, and don't know crap. Maybe their replacements aren't hireable until after the NFL playoffs and or the CFP are done. In the meantime we need coaches in place to finish out the portal.

With respect, I disagree with your take on coaches in place to complete the portal deal. These portal players are coming for money 1st and foremost. They will accept whoever is coaching them. The old method of assistant building relationships is pretty much history since everybody is one and done.

I don't disagree much with you when it comes to the big money blue chip guys. It may still matter to the lesser paid or the developmental guys. It would at least be good to have someone to talk to the OL prospects, though, as opposed to telling them "yeah, we don't have an OL coach right now". I don't think we're ready to announce anything about coaching changes, yet (if we have changes planned, which we hope). We're already paying the coaches salary, what good would vacating the positions do for us at this point in time?

Friday is almost over and I haven’t heard of anyone getting a pink slip today, unfortunately.

I'm beginning to think CKD has the "Mike Shula Syndrome"-ferocious loyalty to your assistants, no matter how badly they're hurting you. Personally, I think this is a terrible mistake but there's not a damn thing I or anyone on this board can do about it.

Counter argument: Kapilovic didn’t come here with CKD. He should have no loyalty to him. Ditto Nunez and ditto Ballou. If you were CKD, would you keep coaches you didn’t really know and in essence, bet your future on them when their performance has been atrocious and obvious to everyone?

Even if you are being a nice guy and giving them a chance to line up another position, that conversation should have occurred right after the Indiana game and time should be running out soon.

I had hopes for Ballou when he came here. Remember how a lot of people were on Cochran’s case about injuries? But we are definitely not moving people/piles or as physical. CKD did work with Ballou at Indiana. They may be close. I don’t know. I just want to see our players dominate again.
