I told you I spoke with his Dad. I didn’t say you had to pump sunshine, I said your kind needed to not be horrible people. Not every INT was on him. Some were receivers not doing what they were supposed to do. Either way, he was a DGD who helped us win a SEC championship and y’all act like he fricked your favorite dog.

I remember someone (not Pete) talking about running into Beck and his dad at a gas station somewhere in Florida, and it was one of the most bullshitty stories I've ever heard.

I have spoken to him. I did not say when or where. I only shared a few details of the conversation that were relevant. I think someone told a story about meeting him in a hotel or something. That was not me. OP is confused.

I met Chris Beck at a bar in downtown Fayetteville the night before we played Arkansas. Town was unusually void of fans from either team because some dumbass scheduled a biker weekend and the streets were overrun with leather jackets and Harleys. My buddy and I found a second level bar that was 1/3 full. Lame. We were at the bar talking to some fat Arkansas fan and discussing who would start at QB for UGA the next day. The guy sitting on the bar stool closest to us interjected and said he couldn’t help overhearing our conversation. He introduced himself as Chris Beck, Carson’s dad. Gave us some inside scoop and told us Mathis was starting but the staff told Carson that if Mathis struggled, he would be on the field. I got back to the hotel and shared that here. As it turns out, Carson wasn’t the #2 that day. Late in the 4th, I went up to take a leak and saw Chris walking briskly about 50 yards away but coming towards me. I thought about intercepting him and asking him what happened but kind of felt bad for him and decided not to do that. He was so proud and happy the night before saying how Carson had been very successful in practice in the 2 weeks leading up to that game.
Maybe the staff made a gut instinct decision to insert Stet that day instead of Carson.

Anyway, that’s my talking to Becks dad story. Maybe not as cool as Peter’s but just putting it out there for the record and hoping it brings some happiness to you all.
