Happy that Bama lost: a melt

This is a melt ....
I'm happy that Bama lost. And not only that but got the absolute shite stomped out of them by Cignetti and Indiana.
Indiana handled Bama like Bama used to handle Western Kentucky or FAU/FIU or ULL.
Deep down, the last time I got really angry about Bama losing was the Oklahoma game last year. Vandy was pretty bad but I thought maybe Vandy just stole one.
We were heading to Norman to play a bad Oklahoma team and just needed a win to get into the playoffs.
We fell flat on our face and DeBoer didn't seem like it was a big deal at all. He may be the most clueless person in the state of Alabama. If so, that's not good.
Anyways, as a result of the Rose Bowl and from a practical standpoint, DeBoer will have to speed up figuring it all out which he may or may not. Who knows?
Or he'll be gone sooner and (in theory) we'll have a better coach who I hope will be Cignetti. I say not really expecting but I have some hope.
He is a quiet sadistic bastard who seems to relish kicking everyone's arse from the great state of Indiana and I don't blame him one bit.
The only other acceptable hire would be Kirby but that will never happen. Kirby will never leave Georgia and nor should he.
At any rate, hopefully assuming this happens, someone will have to sell themselves on getting Bama right.
But most of all, I'm happy that Bama lost because I really fricking hate the sunshine pumpers we have on our Bama board who really don't seem to know shite about football at all.
... and I really hope all the sunshine pumpers at Tidefans die in a fricking fire
I really hate those fricks.
Anyways ... /melt.

Last time I cried over sports was State beating Bama 6-3 in 1980 (I was 11 at the time
).

Alabama is ahead of schedule with our rebuild.
We are in year 2 of a new coach and a rebuild. He's had 1 real recruiting class, last year and then a few months for transfers after Saban retired.
The type of lineman DeBoer wants are athletic guys who can pull, block in space and get to the 2nd level to block. The type of lineman he inherited were big slower guys for gap/zone schemes. You can't just teach or turn them into a different type of lineman.
And despite this obvious problem, Alabama still managed to win 10 regular season games, and we beat every SEC team we played, going .500 with 2 of them. We beat both our rivals.
I don't know why people don't understand what an accomplishment it really was for this team to do what they did. Everyone is all down and out talking about firing everyone and I'm just like what the frick, we just won 11 games in the middle of a transition.

Happy because there needs to be a catalyst for change.
No real Bama fan can say it was ok to lose to anyone outside of the NFL 38-3 and there should be no serious change

I agree 100% with everything you wrote but I personally can't be happy with DeBoer at the helm. There's better coaching out there, we need to go get it. That's ultimately what I'm saying.

Yeah I get it but no fan is going to sit and say “I’m happy we lost!”

Reasonable take.
If I were you, I would just be worried about the lack of willingness to build a run game. Grubb and DeBoer havent committed to the run at any of their coaching stops. You cant consistently win in the SEC or CFP if you cant run the ball. This isnt the NFL where you can have a Mahomes/Manning team chuck the ball 600x and still win big games

Just go get Kiffin or Golding. Golding is 2-0 in the playoffs and would no doubt be able to return Bama to the promised land with the talent they have.

He's more of an air raid coach with a modern twist, so we aren't going to have a power running game under him. We'll be using a lot of short passes as an extension of the running game, and he'll pull a lot of lineman to attack the edges and get to the 2nd level(what we lacked this year).
The other thing we lacked was the vertical passing part of it, which allows defenses to cheat up and blitz etc a lot more. Which also largely comes back to the line and them being kind of slow. Speedy defenders were a problem.
So it's going to be different and I don't know. I'm obviously more use to being what we just saw from Indiana - run it down their throats and see if they can stop it. But I'm going to give it a chance. I wasn't the biggest fan of having 2 QBs under Fran and all that crap either, but for the most part he won games with it before he left, and I sure as frick don't want be all Darby up the middle again.
Don't really see it getting worse, he's recruiting well and getting the guys he wants.

I don't see anyone who is better honestly. What Cignitti has done is very impressive, but he would have never in a million years have been able or allowed to do that at Alabama.
He brought in upperclassman and large numbers of them.
The fanbase will melt because he's replacing blue chippers with these nobodies. The players will transfer out because he brought in experienced players to start ahead of them, causing more melt.
He would have been seen as a nobody with no credibility coming from JMU, taking the place of the GOAT.
I'm not even sure he could do it now and get away with it. The assumption being - well if he can do it with those guys, he'll be much better with more talent. But I think it's the mentality of those lower talented players that have made them that.
You gonna be happy if he runs all the 4 and 5 stars off and replaces them with G5 transfers?
I get it, I love his mindset and all that. I think he'd be no nonsense kind of guy about NIL and the snowflakes would melt out, which would be a good thing. But that's not what the image is going to be.
I just hope DeBoer takes some pages and brings in some experienced upperclassman players in the portal to fill any holes, especially on the lines.

Get a grip, brother. If in fact you are a brother, which I have my doubts about.
