It would have been the perfect out of the box hire.

He is the world's foremost authority on offensive line play and the running game.

It all starts up front. I would take one Stoutland for 50 of these pen headed offensive gurus getting all the head coaching jobs.

It just occured to me that you people assume i mean hire him as o line coach. No. Most certainly not. We should have hired him as head coach.

I don't think a guy who is an elite NFL OLC that has survived multiple head coaches at his franchise is leaving for college.

Worst case he would double his salary.

Absolutely. And hired Kyle Shanahan as OC and Demeco Ryans as DC and round it off with Andy Reid as HC.

Yall gotta realize RCT just post all the scatterbrained shite that comes in his head. He has an Alabama board madlibs notebook at home.

You should read it the same way you listen to the ramblings of an unhomed person under a bridge in Birmingham.

Doesn't it all start with the oline and running game?

If our hc built that, would it not be easier to find a oc to come in and install a passing game around it?

I'll answer.

Absolutely it all starts up front. Once you get that right, everything is easier. And to neglect that and think you can x and o out of it is a fools errand.

To my knowledge no one ever offered stoutland a head coaching job at 11 million a year. I'm not sure he wouldnt have taken it.

This is why the offenses with Pendry and Stoutland fronts were the most feared and ferocious in our dynasty ...despite being qb'ed by second tier quarterbacks.

You people scoffing at this are the same ones whining to "run the ball" when we are not capable of doing so.

We don’t need a 2012 running game and the people pining for one are going to be perpetually disappointed.

We’re also going to keep recruiting elite quarterbacks and the people who want to go back to game managers are also going to be perpetually disappointed.

Saban abandoned that stuff at the end, if you remember.

We simply need a running game that is effective when it’s employed and that opponents must regard as a threat. Neither was the case this season.

I didnt argue for abandoning the passing game and returning to game managers. Not at all.

Saban knew that many of his olines were underachieving in his last few years.

There is no reason why great oline play and a great passing game are mutually exclusive. The very notion is silly.

We did and he did, because it was a lateral move. He is also the highest paid assistant in the league.

Call me crazy and I probably am but I'm not a fan of Reid as a coach.

He’s coaching an OL for the superbowl winning Eagles and has it made. He’s not coming back to pacify entitled 18 year olds.

No, we just think you're a fricking moron for thinking Stoutland would come to Alabama.

If Stoutland wanted to be a head coach, he'd have been an NFL head coach by now. He's been in his current position for 8 years.

For the record, I agree that a strong running game is essential for multiple reasons:

1. perpetually starting drives with 2nd and 9 or 10 is a recipe for disaster.
2. a strong running game means you're dominating the LOS...also an essential for success
3. when you can't line up and run for a yard on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1, your oppponent knows this, and you end up running stupid shite like Grubb did.
4. a strong running game is essential for having the opponent worn down in the 4th quarter. See #2.
5. Without a strong running game, you get your QB killed. And if your OL can't run block for shite, they probably suck at pass protection also.
6. a strong running game is essential for protecting leads in the 4th quarter.

That having been said, you're an idiot if you think Stoutland would consider this job for one second.

He was our o-line coach in 2011 and 2012. Best we’ve ever had. Unfortunately he’s the best in the league as well. I wonder if he has a protégé out there somewhere??
