Regarding SEC Bowl Play

I think starting with the Vanderbilt versus Iowa will tell us a lot about the upper crust of the SEC. So if the better to best SEC Teams are:
Georgia
Bama
Ole Miss
Oklahoma
Texas
Vandy
That’s my actual gauge of how good the SEC is. Thoughts?

I think using bowl games as a barometer for a whole conference has always been a bit silly but it is especially silly these days when you consequential pieces of a team opting out on top of the coaching departures too.
Illinois is a fine team but Tennessee was playing without their only really great deep threat receiver last night. They could not get over the top of shell coverage like Braswell could do for them on occasion.
Mizzou was playing without Pribulla again. They’re alright with him but absolutely dog shite on offense without him. I suspect they clear 14 points with him playing.
The only consequential postseason loss by the SEC thus far was Miami surprising A&M. I figured they’d beat the Canes in Kyle Field. However in retrospect they had not been playing well late in the season.

aTm has talent, but they didn't play anyone for most of the season. One decent win was ND early.
They dodged the top 6 or 7 teams in the conf.
Their QB is dreadful when he can't run.

Even so, Miami’s resume isn’t anything special either so I went with the home team. Turns out Reed can’t decipher a zone defense in any stadium and that was my folly.

Carver and Conception are fricking dogs.
Wish Carver came to Bama.

Their staff need to have their QB execute something against the zone. Ultimately, they couldn’t run well enough to get teams out of it I guess. However, you probably aren’t winning a modern era national title if your QB is a man coverage merchant.

Early going but if this Vandy game was meant to be a barometer then the SEC is doo doo arse.

Agree. But bad start today.

Pavia will always be known as a toolbag, especially if he continues to play like this.

One thing I'm concerned about tomorrow is Alabama physically was just sub par on the OL all year. Vandy was one of the more physical units and looks completely outclassed by Iowa. You can't take it 1-1 in comparison but these results don't inspire much confidence in us being able to block up front very well tomorrow

Idk man the sec in general besides UGA hasn't been much in the last 3-4 years. In the NIL era were just sub par up front. Need to recruit and retain better LOS play

SEC doesn’t have the same advantages at the LOS anymore. I am not sure there is a single great OL in the SEC this year.
Edit: Forgot Ole Miss. Also, no surprise only consistently great offense has only consistent OL.

It's been really strange to me. I get depth has been cut in half.but feels like the big 10 and their upper tier teams especially have not dealt with much of the same problems? I still don't know why they have seemed to handle the new era so much better.

Vandys offense actually is annoying to watch. All their wrs run routes a yard short on 3rd down. Then on 4th and 1 they line up 7 yards deep. Lmao

SEC looks like frauds in bowl play the past couple of years. Impossible to argue otherwise.

Boys. We may have two outcomes tomorrow.
We win big:
We get blown out

Big Ten teams really haven't gotten better. SEC teams have gotten worse because they can't sit on the huge talent advantage they have by simply existing where the talent is coming from out of high school. Unlimited transfers hurt the SEC more than the pay for play. If you believe the haters, we were always good at pay for play.
