The 1982 Liberty Bowl featured the 7-4 Alabama Crimson Tide and the 7-4 Illinois Fightin’ Illini.

Alabama won by the score of 21-15.

Was a student then. Very cold night in Memphis. Sat right behind the Million Dollar Band and couldn't wait for them to get back in their seats after halftime since they were blocking the wind.

People of the modern era will never understand the power Bear Bryant carried every where he went. It was almost on the level of Elvis. And yes, even bigger than Saban....I remember his last game well. I would have been crushed if he hadn't won it.
