I’m going to try something impossible. I’m going to ask you to be reasonable. Hey, it’s Christmas, so maybe I’ll get a Christmas miracle…..here’s the question: how big of a sample size of winning do you need to exhibit before you can become a respected program? What are the parameters? I’ll give my answer. It is impossible to be thought of in THE tier until you win a Championship of some sort. That’s something that has alluded my team for a good minute. What say you? What are the levels?

I get that, but folks respect Oregon. What have they ever won?

I don't respect Oregon.

quote:They have won nothing. Their only claim to fame is that they made it to the championship game. I respect Ole Miss more than I respect them. You play in a tough conference and consistently win. Them? Not so much.

Oregon is respected but still not viewed in the same light as a championship program because they always fall short

I believe Ole Miss is a respected program now given their history over the last 4 seasons or so.

If you beat my team you're respected and considered a threat. It's why LSU fans consider Ole Miss a threat and vice versa. It's why Alabama fans consider LSU a threat although they are loathe to admit it. The list goes on.

Oregon. What have they ever won?
I'll answer that one.
Oregon won Nike.
I don't respect Oregon.
Puts you way ahead of me. I positively HATE Oregon.

No one respects Oregon. They only get press because of their uniforms and Nike. Thats it.

Top 15 in wins all time and atleast a championship. And the wins needs to be while in a top tier conference.

yeah it’s not something you can get just for having a nice 4 or 5 year run
and for ole miss having a 60 whatever thousand stadium in a conference with like 8 schools at 95k plus is a factor rightly or wrongly

The stadium size factor is remarkable to me. Not saying you’re wrong BTW, but still….how stupid.

And thanks to all for keeping this somewhat sensible…………so far.

When you knock off some big boys that are heavily favored brings in a boatload of respect.
