It’s almost criminal to the players not to try a change at QB just to try to find a spark. Dude has sucked since Tennessee. His wild scrambles in the backfield he thinks he his Lamar Jackson with will Levi’s LINEBACKER energy. Hopefully he took a Valium and can chill out.

Deboer wouldn’t have the chest to make the Saban swap Imo

Yes wrs drop balls. I’ve seen that happen before and a team makes a change and suddenly they start catching them. If things look like they did vs UGA it couldn’t hurt to try

It will be interesting to see. Jalen Milroe could only manage 3 points in Norman last year.

Ty’s back is messed up. It shouldn’t even take some hard decision to take him out if he’s playing bad. Ty would get it and you could literally just say “Ty I love you but you’re not able to play your best right now.”

Boom. Easy. It’s not like there’s not a built in excuse beyond play, not that there would even need to be one.

We've reached the playoffs. The coaches shouldn't be thinking about anything else but winning the next game. If the backup seems to give you the better shot, you absolutely have to bench the starter.

It's different when you're in the regular season. If the starter is having a bad day, you might be concerned that pulling him would hurt his psyche and damage your team in future games that year. When UGA was losing to Bama in the SECCG in 2021, Smart knew UGA was in the playoff even if they lost so while UGA fans wanted JT Daniels put in for Bennett, Smart didn't want to damage Bennett's confidence so kept him in even though he was playing poorly. It worked out as he played lights out in the playoffs.

But we're past that point now, if you lose you're out.

Pretty certain the coaches, players and staff know this very well... yet he is the best chance we've had to win. The QB position is about cadence, timing and a feel for offense. There is a reason for a dramatic falloff when a quarterback is hurt. I miss the days when other qb's could get meaningful game time experience for preparation.

I hate it but, it is what it is.

Ty can barely walk and should sit until spring

Bama is losing either way so it doesn’t matter. I expect a 2024 type beatdown

I see a lot of what is going on with Ty Simpson with what happened to Garrett Nussmeir. His play has dramatically dropped off since his injury and the lack of a running game has greatly hampered him.

I've heard that Ty Simpson is in a full body cast, but Bama is going to play him anyway.

Honestly

Night game In Norman against the OU defense is not a recipe for success. I think he’s a good QB but played some very good OU and UGA defenses. OU beat the absolute shite out of him and that bama offense physically. They haven’t been the same since.

You could put Joe Burrow behind that line with no running game and get the same result. Don’t blame Simpson when every team can just come downhill with abandon on every snap.

Yeah, and like Nussmeir, you and the fan base were in the dark, wondering what was going on. I recall all of the discussions to bench and play MVB.

Nuss was a preseason, Heisman favorite and it was easy to see why during the first few games. However, when MVB was finally inserted [and I think he played well], there was falloff.

Teams have figured out that you just play 2 high safeties and pass rush/blitz every down with no regard for the running game. Without Ty, as poorly as he’s played lately, we lose 5 regular season games this year. The only hope with a backup like Russell is that he can scramble for long gains. That’s not sustainable.
Oklahoma is getting the same defensive looks due to their inept running game, as well.

I saw it too. In the second half of the NC game against Georgia-2017.

You gotta think if KD thought putting in another QB would make a difference he would have done it in the SECCG. I just don't see him doing it barring an injury that puts Ty out.

That's about the truth right there. Bama has no O line. They can't run block or pass block very well. Ain't no fixing that this late in the year.
