Josh Pate says Auburn had Jon Sumrall hired but fricked it up

Pate says that Sumrall to Auburn was basically a done deal but they fricked it up at the last minute and Sumrall knew he had Florida in the bag, so he went there. Seemed to be about Auburn trying to control staff hires, etc.
Also says Sumrall could've had Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, and Arkansas if he wanted.
Basically says that Auburn was lucky to snag Golesh at the last second.

It will be interesting to look back on in a few years, for sure

Yeah like any hire ever made

Auburn was meddling. How much of Golesh’s staff was chosen for him?

Literally every hire on O and the DC with D staff inputs from Durkin.
Golesh and Durkin have a long history knowing each other and are good friends.
Please tell me you’ve at least looked at the on/off field staff and know who is actually on it.

The guy they got looks to be just as good/not good

Interesting isn’t Fla usually guilty of this?

Didn’t they do the same thing after they fired Chizik, tried to hire Kirby Smart, and then settled for Malzahn?

And Golesh was waiting for the Arkansas job.
Silverfield signed his contract at 11pm then Aubie offered Golesh at 1:30am.

This is what I had heard - that he was already beginning to put together a staff at Auburn and it fell through at the last minute.

CCB sauces were saying Barn would have made him retain Durkin.

And then they waited two days for Durkin to agree. Putting stock into what Josh Pate says is stupid.

Josh Pate’s take is pretty credible given Auburn’s reputation.

They made a good hire though for sure

You don't even know what that is. You're not even 'big bro' in Kentucky. Maybe you'll have better luck in baseball.

What coach in his right mind would agree to take the Auburn job?
