This is what I had heard - that he was already beginning to put together a staff at Auburn and it fell through at the last minute.
They're now degrading academics in addition to their age old tradition of kneecapping athletics!

I'm not gonna defend our fan support. It's pathetic.

Every program that sees moderate success immediately gets kneecapped by the administration.

Yes. The administration has been trying to kill athletics for 70 years.
I am melting. Well, it was a good four year run.

Blutman has deleted the tweet. Not sure what that means.
Jerry Mack (Kennesaw St) and Charles Huff (Southern Miss) are the hot names I'm seeing floated.
Shiel Wood from Texas Tech. Tech definitely has the money to match but he's a Southerner.
Friday. Don't want to detract from the players signing today or the champ game.
Source who gave me Sumrall 2 days before is complete radio silence. They’re keeping this one close to the vest even by Tulane standards.

I'm hearing no announcement until after the game. AD doesn't want to detract focus from the players (laughable since Sumrall is over here gator chomping on game week...)

In classic Tulane fashion we will flub it.
Orgeron is a complete non-starter at Tulane in a head coach role. This is just Mackel doing his agent a favor.

re: Baker to Tulane?

There’s definite buzz around Baker to Tulane right now. Trickling in on my end.
Hard to say. Tulane keeps stuff really close to the vest.

As it stands I would say:
Baker, Neal Brown, Shannon Dawson.

Edit: expect a hire by the end of the week. AD has known Sumrall has been leaving for weeks after a discussion and has been proactive in the search.
Been on the road all day, here’s an update from source

Interview went well, wasn’t a “we can’t let him leave the room” well, but the Wave really like him. AD & shot callers reticent to hire a first time head coach. Apparently players hyped at the prospect.

Prediction: he goes back to LSU with a raise.

Source says 3 names to look at now are Tyson Helton, Charles Huff, and Billy Napier.

AD said they would prefer HC experience but didn’t outright exclude coordinators like he did last cycle
Can add Lincoln Riley taking over from Stoops to this list.

Counterpoints are Jimmy Lake taking over from Petersen at UW, Helfrich from Kelly at Oregon (although to be fair he made the natty)
From everything I've heard on our side he's off to Auburn and has someone from Troy putting a staff together.

Can't speak to timing of any announcement, he left Troy on good terms and I expect Auburn to honor his wishes and let him see it through however long he wants.

Young Glenn Schumann celebrating the Hawaii Bowl
They need to move the season up in August and end the season first week of January. Calendar encourages this.

List edited to reflect Mora to Colorado State.

Surprised he didn't get a look from Stanford, a bit of a strange move, but also being a Northeast independent second fiddle to basketball is a tough job.
