You dont get the extra bowl practices at all if you decline.
Thats really the only real chance to end the season on a high note.

It's actually most likely due to their players opting out en masse to protect their future careers and electing not to play a game even more meaningless than the SEC Championship Game.

Practices don’t mean anything when every year your team will have 50% turnover. After opt outs, the team is not the same. Honestly, bowl games need to go away. I am sure the players had the ultimate say and they voted not to go.
