Hugh Freeze had a 40 minute interview according to JOX this morning. He said he wanted to wait until the new coach came in, so he wouldn’t taint the hire.

Anyone catch it for cliff notes? Any link to listen?

LINK

Still full of excuses but not as much

His ego is so fractured, he wants another shot somewhere to prove himself

Maybe this will re-ignite his fire somewhere else but I doubt that fire will last

He just isn’t tough enough or as Dye said “Man enough.”

But I sincerely wish he and his family nothing but the absolute BEST!!

Is your generation allergic to scrolling? Your answers are already on this board. Stop being a lame dick boomer.

I think Freeze has done like 3 interviews already.

I watched the one with Hoke. I thought Hoke did a decent job of asking questions and being understanding of Hugh’s feelings as well.

Freeze appears he wants to coach again but probably going to take a year off. I’m not sure he will coach again. I don’t think he will want to uproot his family from Auburn.

He also still doesn’t have any answers as to what went wrong. And still befuddled by all the close loses. He did throw the that’s his job to win those games. He played a little bit of the blame game but I don’t think he was throwing any of the player under the bus just would mention a missed assignment here, an overthrow there, a missed FG, etc etc. My opinion is good teams find ways to overcome those things.

Why doesn't anyone have the balls to ask why the offense got 10x better the minute he went out the door?

Truth

Freeze pretty much said in the Hoke interview that he wishes he would have let Nix be more involved in play calling but just couldn’t help himself

Freeze admitted he should have stayed the CEO and let Nix call plays.

He also tried a little to take credit for Nix with “those are all my concepts” he used in the last 3 games. LOL

They are his concepts. Bo Wallace said he was running peak Hugh Freeze offense.

Hugh is making the rounds for sure.

Lot of aw shucks we were close and I would still be employed if we got a few breaks.

Ultimately- I think what he has to understand is that he was both burned out (diagnosis/pressure/whatever) and
Increasingly disengaged- and delving into whoa is us- that persona was bleeding into the culture. AND at the same time he couldn’t keep his ego in check and wouldn’t let the people he hired to work- work.

At the end of his OM run, he had that same lost in the woods look on his face. He can't handle the pressure. He is really good at selling himself, but he has never delivered a winning team at a high level.

Bo Wallace made it sound like the plays called help simplify things and didn’t have to read the defense as much. Wallace also sounded like he doesn’t know a whole lot.
