Absolute dead end job in this era, but glad he’s getting paid. If he gets fired in a few years, he’ll have a fat bank account and his choice of jobs doing what he’s currently doing.

That doesn’t make any sense.
The Oregon State job is a dead end job. He will not be able to win enough games there to find a better HC gig, and Oregon State doesn’t have enough resources to compete well enough for him to stay there long term, especially since they got left out of conference re-alignment and are missing out on that funding.
