Did Sankey get it wrong or right ? All eyes have been on the sec

Eight game schedules … Sec teams getting massive ranked win boosts .. talks of 3 losses sec teams getting into playoffs . 7 sec teams have been fighting for playoff spots for several weeks . Conferences getting pissed because the sec will get two more teams than the big ten, acc and big 12 likely to get one team in. Tv numbers all season has favored sec .
I suspect going forward the sec will have the highest tv package and it will be over 1.4 billion dollars. To many 6-10 million viewer games .
So much talk about the big ten scheduling philosophy matching 1 ranked team vs Ohio state and Indiana . It seems to have bitten them in the arse. They are going to get a few big games because of population of Ohio Michigan and Pennsylvania. Most games barely get any viewers
Will it all derail when we go to 9 conference games and take more losses ?

If it was working with 8 games, and the big ten always had 9 games, why did Sankey switch it up and go to 9 games? Tv money . I don’t think anyone is pissed about it except the majority of people in here. The big ten might have only 3 or 4 who realistically have a shot at a playoff anyway. So what does it matter?

Sankey is a tone deaf retard…and a follower.

I can't believe Slive recommended him. Sankey must have had dirt on him.

They were both from upstate New York. They had to have known each other from formal gatherings and Sankey is a professional con man

He failed at his job because the SEC media rights deal at the time of adding OU and Texas didn’t change the revenue per school in any distinguishable way. It was non accretive to all existing member.
And the Big Ten got a much better contract through their suite of network packages.
That should not have happened.

Didn't we all hear that the CFP would simply consider the best teams?
Meanwhile, the talking head ESPN announcers quickly brought up the topic of an "elimination game" shortly before the match-up between Tennessee and Oklahoma.
Sankey then resorted to start talking about a 16 team bracket.
On face value it looks like Sankey is a total buffoon.
But is it also possible that Sankey was somehow "rewarded" for this sell out ?

I think this extra SEC game thing is being exaggerated. The committee isn’t going to take one less team just because they lose a third game. It just means the committee will most likely take a SEC team with a third loss IF they aren’t dropped lower in the polls. And the committee isn’t stupid. They want the attention an extra SEC or Big Ten team brings them

I think my Aggies are a case in point for why we need a 9th game. When you don't play 45% of the teams in your conference, there is a chance that things line up so that you miss the other contenders, which makes it hard to judge who is really the best team. Now, the conference championship game will help (if we get by Texas), but having 9 games instead of 8 will increase the odds a bit that no one ends up with quite the same kind of draw. And, frankly, I'd hate to be sitting in that mess of 10-2 teams that we seem likely to have with the committee making the decisions on who is the best based on mostly the "eye test."

The SEC currently stands with an analytic disadvantage already.
I.E. Ohio State is currently favored by 33 points over in-conference opponent Rutgers. You simply don't see that kind of a point spread within the SEC. It has a cumulative negative effect when you have more parity.
When you add the ninth game, you add 8 more SEC losses to the mix compared to one or possibly two out of conference losses.
This isn't an exaggeration... The SEC is getting screwed.

I get it. That’s very lopsided. The big ten isn’t what it was 30 years ago. But when southern cal won with Carson Palmer, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart, the PAC-12 sucked arse too. The big issue is the football culture up east in NJ isn’t good for college football. I can only assume the Big ten added Rutgers and Maryland for tv revenue. But clearly they don’t give a shite about college sports up there. Too many pro teams get the attention of the public there. As far as Sankey, is there a big push to have the guy replaced?

So where is the sport going to grow? The south is already saturated with college football so there is very little room to grow ein the south or Midwest unless the also ran teams start winning more which is what the portal and NIL are helping with. It’s better for viewers if all teams are 6-6 instead if half being 12-0 and half being 0-12.
So the sport has to turn to the northeast and west to grow. The south has already proven they will pay big bucks to watch meaningless games like Ohio State-Texas or Bama-UGA in September and October.
An expanded playoff will raise all ships and conferences when everyone gets 3-4 auto bids so teams all over the country are part of meaningful football in December and January. We can talk about strength of conferences but it’s all just worthless words. We all know right now there are only 4 teams with a chance to win the Natty - UGA, Bama, AM, and OSU. But watching them get there is the fun part as underdogs are always fun to watch.

I think this is only part of it. There are more teams who can win besides these teams. Take away the G5 team. Miami, maybe, because they have the talent but the coaching is lacking. Plus they have a turnover prone QB.
The sport isn’t going to grow anymore because people in the northeast are set in their ways. Just as people in the south and Midwest are. You need schools in those areas to actually make an effort for the programs to be good at football. If they don’t invest in NIL and high potential coaches and facilities, that tells you they just want the handouts from the conference. Indiana was a desert for college football until they got the right hire.
But for every Cignetti, there are 20 Napiers
