I keep hearing he's really beat up and if so, maybe he should just sit this game out and have him a bit healed up for Auburn and hopefully the SECCG?

I suspect the competitor in him will insist on playing this week vs Eastern Illinois. If he does play, I'm hoping Bama gets up big in the first half (e.g. 35-0) and he sits all of the second half. Give Austin Mack all of the 3rd quarter and Russell all of the 4th.

If he’s injured, yes.

I wasn't aware he'd been dealing with an injury so at minimum give him a few series to get up by 21-0 then sit him the rest of the game and let Austin Mack and Russell finish it out.

CodeName hasn't said anything about the back injury lingering or impacting his current performance

That's just message board fake insiders trying to make excuses

Slightly off topic. I remember what McElroy was saying preseason about Ty. He said he was the best quarterback on the roster the last two years. However, he was a perfectionist and a critical over thinker. He would dwell on mistakes and it would lead to hesitation.
I think we are seeing that now. I believe the weeks between FSU and the bye moved so quickly that he was operating on instinct. Since the bye week, and maybe too much time to think, he has shown some cracks. Being optimistic, maybe not getting a bye week is good for his head space.

He hasn't been 100 percent healthy for the most of the season.

It's why I think he needs to come back for another year. He's not ready to be an NFL quarterback and if he comes out after this season he's going to get picked by a very bad organization. He needs to be as prepared as possible when he comes out and he simply hasn't had enough game reps to get to that point just yet.

Nope. Not forfeiting 2 years of Keelon Russell for one more year of Ty.

You're assuming Russell is going to just come in and dominate without any learning curve. I don't see that happening. The SEC is too good for someone that young and that inexperienced to come in and start dominating from the get go. But we all can have different opinions.

Bryce Young literally won the Heisman as a redshirt freshman in 2021. Bryce is a terrific player. Keelon is every bit the talent that Bryce is and maybe more.

I'd rather see him not take a snap Saturday if there's anything physically he needs to recover from.

My biggest worry is that so much emphasis is going to be put on ball security that he hesitates pulling the trigger...which would be a recipe for disaster against the au pass rush.

Really it's ball security and not INTs that are his issue. If he can't find an open route I'd like to see him commit to the run a tad earlier...tuck it and go for 3-4 yards. Or just throw away on a rollout...don't force it trying to play hero ball. Obviously taking big sacks are drive killers...auburn is going to be bringing the house daring them to make them pay.

Why? We have regressed on offense and really could use a sharpening of the knife against an overmatched opponent I think.

Ty needs a palate cleanser after that last game.

How do we know Russell is all that? Without a run game and better OL play, he will encounter the same issues as Ty. I would rather have Ty if the line and RBs position is solidified.

I don't know why any QB at an elite program would transfer when they'd still be in line to start for 2 full seasons. I know it's a "play now" mentality...but in this situation that would be terrible advice. Plus, you're still getting paid big money to keep developing so you can hit the ground running for 2 seasons.

Tua was a monster as a true freshman.

If he’s healthy and it is a confidence issue, I want him to play and air it out and hopefully get some confidence back. Hopefully he can connect on a couple of deep passes. He has seemed a little off to me since he took that shot in the Mizzou game.

Wouldn’t even game plan a running attack this week. It is what it is.

Totally ridiculous that Ohio State has only played one top 30 defense all season and it was the opening game.

I think let him play the first 3 drives and make some good throws to boost his confidence. Let him air it out. Then Keelon the rest of the game
