That's why the administration made the extension when they did. The timing of the extension seemed very odd. Now, we know why.

A&M was never going to let him walk without an offer. The timing is right considering that they probably began working on it during the bye week

Sure they were working on an extension. But, I doubt very much they wanted to do a pregame signing.

At least the team can be focused now that Elko is confirmed to be staying. Almost cost them though ...

I'm not sure A&M wanted to take this step just yet, but with all the programs looking they had to shoot their shot. I do believe Elko is a great fit in College Station.
