Iron Bowl = Pink Slip? DeBoer’s Job Might Be on the Line

Bama fans spent all offseason telling everyone that “the program never drops,” but fast-forward and the whole vibe in Tuscaloosa feels shaky. DeBoer walked into an impossible situation replacing Saban, sure — but with the talent he inherited, the expectations were still to compete for titles, not to look like this:
Linebackers that have massively underperformed
A running game that’s basically non-existent
An OL that’s nowhere near SEC championship level
A defensive front that’s straight-up soft
And an OC in Ryan Grubb who looks extremely overrated now that he doesn’t have Penix and those Washington receivers
And all of this is happening while Alabama is staring at the possibility of missing the expanded playoff for the second straight season — something their fanbase never thought they’d see again.

Hell the SEC should just fire 10 of the coaches who are out of the playoff conversation at this point

I wish LSU had Bama’s problems right now.

DeBoer will definitely coach 3 full seasons because I don't think they can even discuss paying his buyout until that point. Losing to Auburn in two weeks would put him on a toxic path with the fanbase and he may experience a degree of capital flight because the rich people will probably see him as someone setting their money on fire.
Bottom line. He's coaching Alabama the entire 2026 season unless he decides to leave.

Alabama doesn't have the money to pay his buyout. Now if this same exact song and dance happens in 2026, then he's likely on the hot seat. But not this year unless some Mike Price type of stuff happens.

Bama would be smart to sack Deboer ASAP.
They are the only school that can 100% snatch Lane from UF/LSU/NFL.
If they whiff now, they have to put up with PAC 12 Katelynn for another few seasons until Lane's buyout is reasonable again

I would not trade DeBoer for Lane...even after the disappointing loss. Not even close.

Exactly the type of retarded take I'd expect to hear from a Florida fan

Idk..Deboer made some stupid arse decisions in this game. Hell we should have hired Lane when Saban retired. I dont think we lose half the game we lost last year if he was coach.

Yeah like that stupid decision for Ty to spot OU 10 points. All DeBoer. Not on anyone else.

LSU doesn’t even have a coach, and this is on the fans’ minds.

I think Lane was a good OC for us, but he's never won shite as a head coach
The fact people are obsessed with getting him and will maybe make him the highest paid coach is mind boggling...Jedi Sexton mind tricks work on the weak minded.

Rival fans can tell you everything you need to know about Alabama. But don't know the first thing about their own team.

BK has been a bad hired from the start. DeBoer isn't at BK level of a bad hired.
You didn't surprised me one bit because you are a LSU fan.

He's 11-1 , can't tell you Ole miss sos though. He's in the playoffs, Bama will be lucky to make it.

He won a NY6 bowl there, people used to make a big deal about that

The only victories they can look forward to is Bama losing because their program is going to be mediocre for the next 2-3 years at a minimum.
