But, for accuracy’s sake, your school technically has “male cheerleaders.” Texas A&M does not.

EVERY school that whines and whines and whines about the Yell Leaders (and asserts that they are gay) DOES have "male cheerleaders,” who wear costumes at least as cringeworthy as the Yell Leaders.
Statistically, THOSE male cheerleaders ARE overwhelmingly gay, whereas most of the former Yell Leaders that I know IRL are happily married straight men with lovely wives and a house full of great kids.
I have a female friend who was a ‘sip cheerleader, and she tells me that exactly ONE of the male t.u. cheerleaders on her squad was straight.

Indeed. The infatuation with the Yell Leaders is as gay as it gets.
Every SEC school has a collection of failed gymnasts that do cartwheels on the sidelines. Generally it is 6-8 males and females. For some reason, watching dudes do cartwheels and tumbling is not gay, but seeing 5 guys lead 100K in a Yell is gay.
Why are the dudes in cheer outfits any less gay than the dudes in janitor gear? It's fricking stupid, but hey, the tRant brain trust has to have something about which to beech.
