I’ve seen him slip in prior games. He takes too big a step, loses his center of gravity and falls to the ground. That’s not Napier’s doing. That’s just dumb.

DJ has been mediocre this season no doubt about that
But we may never know what was truly wrong with him physically with several injuries,
I think bringing on the right coach to get him coached up and get him in shape, might be what he really needs
Because right now he is not getting either.

If we do get Kiffin I would really be surprised if he doesn't bring one of his QBs with him and Lagway transfers out.

Sunbelt's greatest recruit regressed because of poor coaching.
Sure last year he was a true freshman and made some errors, but he was physically healthy enough to make something happen.
I think we all anticipated that he would be a bit rusty after being injured during the offseason. But holy hell I don't think he watched any tape either. He can't read a defense, he doesn't know how to run his offense, and his footwork is simply garbage.
Certainly you can blame Ryan O'Hara, but the buck stops with Billy, who clearly was involved because Ryan is calling the same stupid calls and schemes that SBB did.
On top of that, DJ's attitude has certainly changed. He is not a leader nor is he the Tebow-esque type of person we all thought he was. Throws and INT and sulks on the sidelines. No conversations with teammates or coaches. Just sits there.
I also have on good authority to say he was kicked out of a Wawa in Gainesville after cocking an attitude and pulled the "do you know who I am ?" card.
There is absolutely no reason to keep him and I wish him the best of luck on his future endeavors at Texas St.

If true and some others said the same thing he needs to go even if Kiffin doesn't come here. Showing arrogance when he hasn't done crap. If we do get Lane its likely he is bringing Simmons with him.

Get him a good OC and see if it clicks...he has the talent, just needs coaching like most five stars....talent is there, mentality is not. A good QB coach will help him a ton.

If Kiffin signs unless Simmons has changed his tune on UF its hard to see Lagway staying as we won't pay him anything we don't have to. He also looks like he couldn't even run Kiffins offense with how Kiffin expects the QB to be a weapon running the ball.

You can blame coaching all you want, and yes it’s a piece of the problem. In truth DJ is just not what we expected. He was a 5* out of a big program in Texas. His inability to read defenses and make adjustments is inexcusable. No five star has the poor mechanics and arm angle issues he has, those should be tweakable coaching issues not major flaws.He has flashes of greatness that are quickly overshadowed by stupid decisions.
