These ADs and boosters are hooked on his drugs football coaches.

His favorite type of addict is Scott Woodward.

ADs need to negotiate a reasonable salary, but they would all have to do the same

ppl love to blame the lawyers.

the reality is this is the free market functioning. talented football coaches are extremely scarce and thus have immense leverage over any schools hoping to hire them. sexton is only exercising said leverage to extract full market value on behalf of his clients.

No different than a cocaine cartel forcing his distributors to pay more money.

It’s the dumb ADs and rich boosters that are the problem.

Woodward gave the two stupid contracts.

Now coaches will get raises bc LSU and Florida cannot just go hire Golesh or Sumrall.

The schools do it to them selves.

You don’t have to hire Josh H. You can hire someone that learned under him. That’s what the pros have done for years.

But noooo, colleges have to try and take another schools head coach. It’s just stupid.

Ole Miss will either lose him or have to make him the highest paid coach in history to keep him.

Everyone needs to stop with the 10 year contract nonsense. They’re football coaches, not astronauts. Most of these guys are dumber than shite

Exactly. Three to five years should be the standard. Ten years is like being held to a fricking holding company or private equity firm and then they got you by the balls

This. My only conundrum would be if the coach is successful, how do you stop the coach from being poached? I know there’s the buyout clause and all of that jazz, but wouldn’t there always be a school throwing out a deal that’s more lucrative than the next? Wouldn’t this come full circle again?

You really are the dumbest fvck on here, which is quite an accomplishment. Congrats.

No one is forcing AD’s to sign these contracts. There is a shortage of elite coaches. The free market has driven up the price of those elite coaches, or those that AD’s hope can grow into elite.

It;s a crap shoot. Who could’ve picked Cignetti would turn a perennial loser like Indiana into a football power?

This is true, but it's also true that college Presidents and ADs are horrible business people. Good NFL coaches are more scarce but the top 32 college coaches make a lot more than the 32 NFL coaches. Why, because they're running a business and not just spending other people's money.
