College GameDay Should End

*Overtime, or “OT,” is an opinion column series where the Collegian takes national sports headlines or polarizing topics and gives them a Butler-centric angle.

I regret I wasted approximately 38 seconds reading that.

Doesn’t College Gameday have some of its highest ratings ever these days?

Then figure out why a 16 plus team league can’t find a way to produce more meaningful matchups. There’s not a single ranked matchup outside the SEC this Saturday. And the argument is to go to North Dakota? Don’t get me wrong, it’s great when Gameday does those unique visits, but they’d have to do that multiple times a year if they had a sort of SEC quota.

Refuse to read but based on the title frick whoever wrote it.

Don't watch if you don’t like it. I haven’t watched more than 10 minutes combined all year but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist.

The column made no sense.

College Gameday needs to go off the air because McAfee makes the last pick and they don't cover enough B1G games.

Meanwhile, it clearly states there is an alternative pregame show that only covers B1G games on another network

I don't watch it, so I don't care. When they get smokeshows like Alyssa Lang and Laura Rutledge on there, let me know.

This was a Google site suggestion.

I get it, but I didn't read the article at all for the reason I mentioned. People can just change the channel if they don't like something, they don't need to make the choice for everyone else too.

I can't remember the last time I watch College Gameday. I bet it's been 10 years. That shite is too early for me.

Understood.

The way your post was written was taken as directed towards me, but I see how it was more for intended the writer of the article.

The level of whiny bitch in that article is staggering. Sorry but College Gameday cares about ratings and compelling games and atmospheres and the SEC dominates that. Look at the top rated games thread, it's the SEC with a few others sprinkled in. Even the lesser SEC games get strong ratings and attendance. You can look at the recruiting rankings and NIL budgest as well and it's clear the SEC has the best talent and it isn't close.

I hated adding OU and Texas but objectively it made the SEC tower over everyone else. The B1G added a lot of junk with Rutgers, Maryland, etc. Oregon and USC are nice brand additions but the league just has way too many "meh" programs that don't invest in excellence and seem happy just to collect fat checks from Fox and hope to make a low tier bowl game.

The other leagues are just becoming more of a minor league every year with a few quality programs. They just don't have many intriguing matchups and they definitely don't have ratings.

I don't love McAfee but he's ok. Corso was awesome but he needed to retire after the stroke unfortunately, it made me sad to watch him the last few years. Shows evolve.

The funniest thing to me is how he brings up Big Noon and then doesn't seem to realize he is destroying his own point. If Big Noon is so great than why does Gameday dominate it? It's because people want to watch the big boys play in the SEC where on any given week you could have 3 or 4 games that are super compelling in great atmospheres.

I mean, the article isn’t that far off. But it also shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. ESPN has a financial deal with the SEC and its network to televise content linked to its subsidiaries. This author is bitching for no reason
