Does a team that got their asses handed to them by a team with a losing record deserve to be in the playoffs?

Does that mean if we win the SEC, no one from the conference deserves to be in the playoffs?

Generally 1st game of the year gets some forgiveness. Recency bias is a thing in this sport.

Just remember this when people in here are pissing on the big XII or big ten teams for their shitt schedules. What top team in those conferences lost to an under .500 team?

Remember when a poor Ole Miss team beat UF in 2007 and it fired Tim Tebow & co. up? Yeah…bad losses happen sometime happen to even championship caliber teams. Not sure if Bama 2025 is truly championship caliber, but there is nuance in the sport of football worth noting.

Didn't 2014 Ohio State lose to a VA Tech team that finished 6-6 against FBS opponents?

You’ll get your chance to knock them out of contention later this season…

Oklahoma has twice made the college football playoff despite losing to an unranked team during the regular season. Oklahoma also made the 2003 BCS championship despite losing by 28 in their conference championship. You guys are the kings of undeserving shots, so you tell us.

Texas lost to a losing team in Florida earlier this year. Then Texas turned around and smoked OU. If Kentucky called a couple of better plays on the goal line last week then they would have beat Texas. Kentucky is the worst team in the SEC and was closer to beating Texas this season than OU.

It was 2008 but yes that is where my mind went as well.

One bad loss, especially in September, doesn't have to define your season.

One bad loss, say to Iowa State late in November, definitely could but 12 team playoff is a whole different world. Ohio State got new life last year and rode that shite to a title just like they did in 2014.

All I know is that nobody wants to play Bama right now. DeBoer has them rolling. I don't see them losing another game during the regular season. They will be hungry to beat Oklahoma to avenge last year just like this year's Vandy game. LSU is struggling and hard to see Brian Kelly pulling off the upset. If LSU is going to upset anyone in the next two games, it will be A&M and not Bama.

tOSU lost by 14 to VT in week 2 of 2014. VT would finish the regular season 6-6. The Buckeyes would make and win the initial CFPs.

Correct but we went 9-4 that year second only to Bama in the West and we beat no. 8 Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. Not exactly a "poor" Ole Miss team.

Didn’t Ohio State win a title after losing to a miserable B1G team a few years ago?
